Stunterz CornerDo you like to ride a bit different from everyone else? Like to see how long you can ride on one tire? Front or back? Well this is the place for you. All Stunt groups are located here now.
So last night was my first time at an organized stunt practice. About 30 bikes with 20 participating and 10 watching. It was a load of fun to watch and I actually managed my best wheelies and stoppies ever (though I still suck compared to the guys that really do that stuf). The night raised a couple questions though.
1) Why the hell do people buy brand new bikes if they are going to stunt?
- I saw a lot of brand new CBR600RR's and GSX-R600's and 750's and even new R6 as well. Most of those new bikes were already rashed up on at least one side. A brand new 600RR did a ghost riding jump over a curb and then a flip into a weed and brush covered ditch and hill.
2) Why the hell do people stunt in shorts, t-shirts, and no helmet? There were two guys there that rode the track with us on Monday (one even went down and was saved by gear) and there they were in shorts!
I suspect its because they dont have the discipline to save up enough money to buy an appropriate used bike. For some people it's easier to buy a new bike than a used bike, and if your a spoiled little kid that doesnt have to worry about paying bills it doesnt seem like all that bad of an idea.

Im gonna disagree with this statement, because I stunt....most people buy new bikes to stunt because:
1)its the bike you want
2)you dont have to worry about the mechanics or history of a used bike
3)its fun and alot of new bikes are better for stuntin i.e. idle, weight, frame styling.....

Response to Question #1
as the sport of stuntin progresses, newer bikes are being brung into the sport for various reasons...weight, bolt on capabilities (12bars and Cages), and other various reasons......
Right Now The Best Stunt Bikes Are:
03-04 Kawi 636
04-05 Gixxer6 n Gixxer750
04-06 600rr
00-01 929r
02-03 954rr
All these bikes are light, durable, easy to maintain, and because the sport is growing you can find help and parts all over the place....
in response to the rash, its just part of the game....it seems like everyday I wake up theres 20 new tricks I gotta learn, so you pick up quick in this sport...
Response to Question #2
This one is easy...
Its more comfortable...if your out practicing in full gear, its the middle of the day, your helmet is fogging up, your jacket is clinging to your sweat, and your pants dont allow you to move.....
10 times out of 10...the rider is gonna be more focused on how uncomfortable thay are than paying attention to what their doing...
I'll be you money if its not some big competition, if some guy comes to the lot to practice and he has full leathers or any kind of full body gear on, hes not gonna be wearing for long....
`but when it come down to it, no one can tell anyone else what to wear and what not to wear when they go riding....
Does anyone else in this thread, with the exception of me, stunt their bikes....OR hang out with a stunter on an everyday basis?!
yup, you got some good points btw. I'll go out in shorts and a t, because thats what im comfortable in. I alway's wear my helmet, unless im doing real slow sh*t. Then it goes right back on when the idle goes down!

its all about who you are and what you like....
In what way are you actually disagreeing with my statement? I dont believe I said that new bikes didnt make "better" stunt bikes. We are talking about wether or not they are better-enough to justify the price for a person that doesnt have too much money or too little intellect.

sorry guy, I misread and quoted the wrong post
but I am gonna say you cant put a imit on how much money the next man can spend on a vehicle and you cant belittle someone for what they choose to do....

Yep, I stunt my 1000 and hang with alot of stunters on an everyday basis. Even though Im a little older I learn ALOT from these young guys!!! My cousin who moved here from Jacksonville, Fl. is the best in my area and he got me into it. Most people on this board would consider them squids because they stunt in whatever they want to. Helmets are normally their only gear and they rarely wear a jacket because it is hot as hell in Ga.

You do make good points as to what the reasoning us but I'd like to counter with:

Open the visor or remove it while stunting.

A perforated jacket would be good for hot weather and low speeds (yes, I own one).

Proper fitting pants will allow plenty of movement. Unless someone is a gymnist, they won't be hampered much by a pair of jeans that fit.

That's a pretty good discussion ender right there. I asked a question and you gave your answers. Those aren't the personal decisions I would make but that doesn't make your perspective any less valid so I'm definately not going to argue.
Thank you for responding in an intelligent way (sometimes that doesn't happen when people discuss wearing gear).
