Default Clutching from a dead stop?

so i'm not the best at wheelies, i can clutch 1st and 2nd all day but still chasing bp the whole way. my question is if its a good idea to try clutching from a complete standstill and learning bp that way, or just keep practicing while i'm up to speed?

ps its a 954, stock gearing

try if you want, but do you have rear break control yet? cause with stock gearing your not gonna to have much engine break if you go to far back, and do you have a 12 bar and cage?

Clutching from a dead stop is the quickest way to end up on your ass if you dont know what you're doing. Keep practicing tryin to reach BP in second. Every time u do it try to bring it up a lil higher and eventually you will get there. I wouldnt recommend anyone try to learn BP from a dead stop but everyone learns differentlyso when it comes down to it do what you feel most comfortable with.

You can do it, ive only done it once...1st weeks of riding with friends 5yrs ago revving at red light and i dropped the clutch...bike went up up up i grabbed clutch and avoided danger. That was the last and only time i did a drop from dead stop. this was on my 00f4

I will say that experience has let me know its possible if you are expecting it. On the 954 which i also owned 1.5 yr ago i wouldnt drop from dead stop unless i was ready to parking lot stunt for slows and 12's. Other than that even if you hit bp i doubt you have the skill to shift through gears

not a good way to learn BP. i usually clutch my 54 from up 5mph or so, but BP and rear brake control isnt an issue for me. learn BP and brake control at a greater speed. when you start out real slow you gotta deal with side to side motion as well.

+1

I just started doing them from a dead start and like everyone else has said you HAVE to have brake control on lock first

Took the words right out of my mouth. Side to side motion comes into play and if you are not comfortable at BP I wouldnt try it.
