stunting a GSXR 750 or 1000?
I posted this in the Suzuki section also, but thought I might get some feedback here as well...
Alright guys...I've got a deposit on an 06 GSXR 750 or 1000, the dealership hasn't got them in till next week, and I am unsure of what to buy. I ride a 96 Kawi ZX7RR that is pushing 121hp with 41mm flatslide carbs, and has a 190 rear wheel. I have been riding for about seven years however, I have only put about 15,000 miles on the road due to a shoulder injury sustained a couple years back in between bikes (91 FZR 600, 98 ZX9-crunchy) I am very comfortable leaning my bike (which is 480lbs) in the twisties, but I feel like I can never get enough speed/power...I like to ride on one wheel, but not so much stunting (yet, maybe cause I've got a heavy ass bike) & I ALWAYS wear full gear, whether the ride is 10 minutes or five hours.
I'm drawn to the 1000 because of the wider rear tire, which I can ride with the pressure low and wheel easily. On the 750, the 180 tire looks so small after having the 190 on mine now. People say that the turning radius is better on a 180, but I am under the impression that while it may take a split second more to lean the bike with a 190, afterwards you have that much more tread to lean into the curve. If anyone has some opinions on the tire size for wheelies, and anyone who goes from the 190 rear to 180 on a consistent basis, how it differs in feel or which makes you feel more confident.
Next, I have great throttle control and manuverabilty on the street, but don't often ride in groups...I enjoy putting the bike's nose in the air. I know the 1000's tire will come up by power (although clutching is the predictable preference) but I am curious if the 750 will bring the front up on power, and if so in 1st only, or 2nd as well? And if you were going to ride aggressively on both the street/track/and stunt....which bike would you choose and why?

The 750 will do everything the 1k will. I have a 954 and I run 180's and 190's and notice no difference. Your whole thing about buying the 1k over the 750 because of the 190 is stupid, it's all in your head. Buy whichever bike is more comfortable/looks better/is cheaper/etc. They are probably the same in terms of comfort and looks, all gixxers look the same lol. Anyway, the 750 im sure will lift the front wheel under power in 1st-3rd gear and I know the 1k will do that as well with relative ease. Like I said dude, there isnt much difference between the bikes except power, and even still that 750 is no slouch. If you want the extra power, get the 1k...if you dont, get the 750. If you want the 750 but a wider tire, buy it and put a 190 on.

Yo snigg...I can see how you got that my main focus with a new bike was the rear tire. However, if I had rephrased that it may have read....
"I am drawn to the 1000 cause of it's power because I enjoy riding fast and I can lift it easily, and also I like the fact that it has the wide rear tire which I can ride with the pressure low".
I actually got some informative feedback when I posted this in the Suzuki forum, however, my point in posting it here was to try and see if there was a difference in feel how a wheelie rides between a 180 and 190 rear tire from some actual stunters since both of the bikes I've been riding have 190's on them. It was complete curiousity, that really isn't a deciding factor in purchasing the bike. Also, I asked if anyone had any opinions for the best bike for street/track/stunt riding and I was putting it out there to anyone who does all three with their GSXR 750 or 1000...
I see how when reading my post it seems like all I'm concerned with in a new bike is the wider tire, but deeper in my rambling there is some actual information I was trying to get. Thanx for the input but still I wouldn't mind hearing from GSXR owners if they read this...

I cant give you much input on the new 750 because I havent been on one but, if one of the main attractions of the bike is wheelies then you might not wanna get the new 1000. The new gixxer 1ks are not really good wheelie bikes. Getting the front tire off the ground is not a problem as they have an insane amount of power. But that bike was designed to perform on a racetrack and thats exactly what it does. The engine is tilted forward a few more degrees than older models putting more weight on the front of the bike and the length of the swingarm and wheelbase were changed. These changes make the balance point smaller than the older 1ks so you have less room to play with once u get it up. Im not saying that its impossible to wheelie this bike just that if your main thing is wheelies then you might wanna consider a different bike. I went from a 600 to the new 1k and it was almost like learning how to wheelie all over again. I didnt have a problem getting it up but it took me about a week to find the BP on that bike. It can be done with practice. But like I said, this bike was engineered for the racetrack just look at what mat mladin has been doin on it this year. If you're looking for something new with a good amount of power you might want to look at the r1 I havent been on the new cbrs or zx10s yet....however if u do decide to race you will get your ass handed to you by gixxers all day. Hope that helps.

I wouldn't base my decision on the tire neither. Especially because 180 tire uses a narrower rim by 0.5" than the 190. That's why you shouldn't switch the tires in the first place.
If you feel compfortable with all your bikes, get the 1000, which will have your preferred tire and a lot more torque in low rpm's. it makes riding a lot more relaxing and gets the nose up quicker which should strain the engine internals less. it also has some other nice goodies, like the Teflon coated forks which the 750 doesn't have i think.

I can tell you that the 750 is more than capable of power-ups in first and second. Clutching is also easy as hell, and smooth.
Just to give you an idea... your ZX7RR was pushing 121 modded, my '06 750 dyno'd out at 122 stock, AND it weighs less.

i had a zx12r for a few years and found no difference between a 200, 190 and a 180 tire aside from turning. The bike was more stable with very high wheelies on the 200 but not by much. I would say get the 750, I have found the power to be more than necessary (fact is I prefer 600s nowadays) and the lower end is more tractable than the 1000, even though they are both awesome bikes.

A guy gets a flat tire on his car, in the midst of a cross country trip. Low and behold, he breaks down in front of an insane asylum on a beautiful Sunday afternoon-a day when all the patients are outside. Much to the misfortune of the driver, he loses his balance and drops four of the five bolts securing the spare tire to the vehicle down the sewer. A man behind the bars, in the asylum has a suggestion. He says "Hey buddy, take one lug from each wheel and put it on the spare, 'till you get where your goin' and you get new ones." The driver says "WOW! A great idea......and to think, a mind like you locked behind these bars......" The patient replies "Hey man, I may be crazy, but I'm not fuckin stupid...."
