Arrow 1999 CBR900RR Gearing

Hey all,

I bet this has been asked tunns on this site but so far I haven't found it.
The current bike I have is a CBR900RRX 1999 with standard gearing.
First and second gear wheelies don't seem to much hassle but is what I want to do is the nice slow speed wheelies but need to setup my gearing.

What sprockets would you guys recommend for me to use i.e. number of teeth front and back and what impact with this have on the bike.

Cheers Guys!

Garvey!

I still want to use the bike for ride outs etc

Something that the front wheel would come up easy

Right but the crazier you gear it up, the more annoying it's going to be on the street when not stunting (shifting all the damn time, being in higher RPMs more often, decreased gas mileage, etc etc).

well if i was you id look into going like -1 in the front and up +2 or +3 in the back. it wont be that drastic but it will certainly make a difference

so reducing the front and increasing the back will sort it.

I can never get my head around which to do it. Cool. This weekend I will pop out and buy some sporckets and give it s bash.

thanks for you advice guys!

going down 1 tooth in the front is equal to going up about 2 1/2-3 teeth in the back. the plus side is by going down 1 in the front and going up a few in the back you can most likely keep the stock chain. you still really havent explained how streetable you want your bike to be. with that combination you will still be plenty streetable and it will give you some extra umph to get that front wheel up.

Basicly I still use the bike for work too. The bike can do at the moment with stock setup 170 which here in the uk you will not really get the chance to do with all the speed cameras and stuff.

Dropping the top speed down to no more than say 110 would be fine plus I would still be able to have a blast around town.

Im not bothered with having to change gear all the time and using more fuel as long as it still can reach a tunn!

Does that explain it a little better? I hope so. Im starting to understand the gearing method now.

Cheers Guys!
