Default stoppies

Last week I finally got the rear tire off the ground. Well I was doing ok with stoppies till a day ago when just about everytime i do one I get a chirp from the front tire. Could it just be worn tires, they are getting close to getting replaced, or could it just be the road conditions?

The chirp is the tire sliding. Even with a worn old tire you can stoppie, it just takes more finesse. Make sure that you hit the brake in a two step process, the first a firm pull to compress the suspension and the second even harder to lift the rear end. You dont want to be compressing the suspension at the same time you try to lift the rear.

+ 1 on that one kern, I started doing them on accident playing around with the front brake, and didn't really know what I was doing.

The stoppies make me nervous, because every once in a while I will get be on the verge of locking the front tire up. I hear it chrip and it feels like the bike is slidding but falling over at the same time. So to do a rolling stoppie one would have to actually lock up the front tire? So this really isn't going to cause me to crash as long as I keep my balance?

What helped me doign a stoppied was to transfer my balance to the front by moving my body. I havent tried rolling stoppies thoug...i really dont know where to begin.

no, the front tire does not become locked up at any point in time, only if you are doing a squid 5mph pop-a-stoppie.
