Default Who has blown their motor doing wheelies?

Ive started to ride wheelies about 3-500 yards now, and was wondering if i go farther am i at risk to starve the engine of oil.

I ride a cbr929 and was wondering what it takes to blow these engines, how much it costs to fix/replace, and if anyone has modified the oil pickup or done any tricks to avoid seizing the motor while doing wheelies.

Anyone been thru a few motors have any advice?

thanks
scott

adding extra oil is an easy trick, but not a solution. will help, but not solve the problem.

^it is the solution for "newer" hondas (not gsxrs). On 929's the oil pickup is reletively far back in the oil pan. Just add 1 quart and it should be good even at 12 oclock

yep i run 1/2qt-1qt over on my 954 and ride multiple mile stand ups with no problem. i definitely wouldnt worry about it if your riding 3-500yd wheelies

It takes getting your engine struck by lightning before you'll blow anything the Jap's have made.... there was a link to an engine test where they ran a couple of sportbike engines w/ no oil in them whatsoever... the engine just kept on pounding at max rpm for hours and hours... they eventually poured sand into it and it just went and went....

you're fine.

You can take your oil pan off and weld a plate in there at an angle so it always has oil. Just make sure it is at the right angle and not going to stop flow.

gixxers tend to blow up because of oil starvation .... but 929 should be fine.

what about f3s? f4rider mentioned that "newer" hondas are fine, but would a 1995 f3 do ok with just adding extra oil?

adding extra oil helps out quite a bit, but gsxr's still starve for it at high angles............

I am a dealer for oil pickups for gsxr and F4 / F4i's.... check them out in my store

you ride a honda!! it takes a lot to blow it. did anyone see darius try to blow his at stuntwars? it ran out of gas after blowing all the coolant out. i also run extra oil but i use an engine treatment that coats your cylinder wall and reduces the friction. check out fullthrottlerider.com . i've been using it for years and don't have a problem.
