Im considering switching to a sv1000s. I hear these bikes have nasty slapping traits. The 05's come with a damper. Im not buying it to do wheelies but i may play from time to time. Is this something I will have to be concerned about?

i've ridden my friend's 04 sv1000 and never had any trouble with any form of slap/headshake/wobble. then again, he did add a steering damper. i would tell anyone to get a steering damper before they attempt wheelies anyway, just to be safe. as long as you have a steering damper, you should be fine.... as long as you dont loop ;p

personally, unless you hit the twisties a lot, id stick with an inline-4. the big bonus to the v-twin is the fact you can really let loose on corners.

and just a side note - a full system yoshi race pipe sounds fucking hardcore on a v-twin engine. best sounding bike i've ever heard.

I've never ridden with a damper. just got used to the slap coming off the mile wheelstands, then learned to prevent it altogether...
