Default power up in 1st...

I have a 96' kawasaki zx6r... I was wondering if its even possible to power up in 1st. From like 5-10 i punch it and it just takes off. The front doesnt even come off the ground... Should i just try leaning back more? or just gun it from a dead stop?

+1 Its not gonna come up by just powering it at 5-10 mph....u have to be higher in the powerband to power it up. Try clutching it up...you can be lower in the rpms and not going as fast.

if you want to power it up in first, accelerate somewhat hard up to just under where it starts making power(powerband), let off for a split sec then wack on the throttle. it can be done, but id just clutch it. clutching is the way to go, but be prepared..it'll come up fast. always cover that rear brake

I power wheelie my bike. If I pin the throttle at 5k and leave it pinned it comes up and stays there till i shift... not really high or anything. If I put my weight forward I can keep it down.

On mine if i chop it and slam it back on at 9k rpms it comes up alot easier tho. I think ill start working on clutching 2nd and 3rd up soon.

I have tried 2nd gear clutch ups and the bike doesnt want to go up... Then when i try 1st gear clutch ups sometimes it will come up great... But almost 70% of the time the back tire just spins... This is with warm tires and me sitting back.. I usually do them at about 4k and rev it to 8-9 or so before i release the clutch... Would lowering the tire pressure fix this problem?

What tires are you running? Sounds like you just need better tires. Depending on what the tire pressure is now, lowering it a little might help, but if you have a crappy tire it'll only do so much. Tire pressure is widely debated and depends on alot of variances, but I'd say right around 30psi is good for the rear.

bring in and let out the clutch at a faster rate... make sure u throttle faster as well. (faster, not more unless needed). you're building too much torque for the tires you have to overcome. if you let out the clutch faster, it takes the immediate torque from the tires and puts it on your clutching plates and then, over time, full torque is sent to your tires. you wont spin out nearly as much and it should come up fine.
