1st gear stand ups
What do you guys think about 1st gear stand ups? I bounce them in 2nd and ride them far now but i put it down cause im not near the BP so it's slowly accelerating and when i get close to 90 i say f this and put it back down. I can go far but I got no intention to do wheelies that fast. I really want to learn slow wheelies, but i gotta work on clutching them up. Id be happy if i could cruise along at 40-50.
My friend can ride them for over 2 miles and says stay away from 1st gear stand ups cause first is to twitchy. Yea, it's twitchy, but it's also slower. Should i start clutchin stands ups in 1st or 2nd? I want to learn slow wheelies so I figure if i want to eventually learn them i gotta learn to control first anyway. So what do you think? Should i learn 1st gear clutch or 2nd gear clutch first? I'm happy with my sit downs. I can clutch up 1st and 2nd when i want and I can go for a decent amount of time. So i figure the more i practice then they will naturally get higher and longer anyway, but clutchin stand ups im still working on.

Change your sprockets and do them in 2nd gear...

Your friend was right about 1st gear being twitchy. Everyone learns differently so you really have to do what feels comfortable to you. Try clutching it in second at about 45mph or so and you should be able to ride it out from there. But the most important thing is to just keep practicing.

first gear is only twitchy until you learn some decent throttle control. Clutch them up in first, 25mph is a good place to start. Practice your roll offs, being smooth, tighten up your wrist a little bit (no chop chop choppy throttle). If your being wild on the throttle in a wheelie & cant get into balance point, just set it down and try again. Practice Practice Practice, and cover the rear brake, stab it a couple times in a wheelie to learn what it does. Try not to crash, have fun.

In my case, I couldn't learn to hit BP in 1st. I had to learn in second. 1st was way to twitchy, and I didn't have the type of throttle control required. Even now I'm better in 2nd gear
