the story on it is that i found it on craigslist.org. so not a healthy start. i bought from a guy who had a lien on it. he paid the lien and got the "title". the bike came from Maryland who have a "two title" system. basically the real title isn't printed until financial obligations are met. the lien holder will hold the second "title" until the agreement is fulfilled. thing is this second "title" is more a voucher for the real title. it says on it in bold "this is not a title". now, i obtained this paper by trading the tag that was on the bike for it. agreement was i would hold the tag until the title was handed over.
so as it ends up the seller now was relieved of financial responsibility by using my purchase funds to clear his name. he could then swap this second "title" for the tag then double bag later and steal the bike back and have the tag to put back on it ending up with a free bike. at least for a certain amount of time.
that's my going theory on what's happening. the other avenue is that there's a little local crime ring that may have done it. group of 18-20's going around knocking off local businesses for cash and prizes. pizza places and ice cream stores and such. auto theft would seem outside of their realm so i don't really put alot into this idea. it'd be more likely to figure that i was a victim to a craigslist scammer versus a victim of the local punk kids.
so yeah, no insurance = i probably won't see anything from this. if i get it back it'll probably be in pieces. hopefully the guy gets pulled over on the thing and they seize it. shit if i'm really lucky he'll have put new tires on it.

just for posterity, due dillegence or what have you.
anyone in the MD area. the seller was Tom Lazzari from Dayton MD. the friend whom everything was titled under is Richard Small Jr. of Clarksville MD. i've often heard Tom talk about going to a "bike night" or something. if anyone in that area could keep a look out for me or if by a longshot anyone knows them it would be awesome to contact me with any info.

Hey man,
I am in Oxford, PA and ride a lot so I will keep my eyes peeled for you. My uncle, nee_dragon, rides even more than I do, so I will tell him as well.
I know how you feel because some scum bags walked right into my driveway and stole my 1994 Honda Civic back in February.
Anymore info on possibly who has it or where in Oxford it would be?

As nee_dragon, most of the other bikes around this area are rough, old and rode by squids. LOL.
