Got it back today. There is a warrant out on the suspect. The bike was found because one of the other bikes stolen had lojack. The bike and probably 98% of the pieces were recovered. The thief even labeled the baggies he put the nuts and bolts in...

more pics are in the Va forum (Hampton Roads)

They get an estimate of how much it will be to put it back together. If its over a certain percentage of the cost of the bike they will total it.
I plan on buying it back and making it a track bike. The only part I need to actually buy is the subframe for the seat/tail as it was the only broken piece.

I stopped by the dealership on Saturday. Looks like they havent even touched it to get the estimate.
I just want them to pay it off so I'm not paying for a bike I don't have or fix it.

Man that must be frustrating. Ride their assess to get an estimate. Probably doesn't matter how close the estimate is either, the cost will be too much and the insurance company will write it off.

So you've got 98% of it eh?
Hey I've taken a bike down to the three separate pieces of the frame/subframe/swingarm. (polished em over a winter) Engine dropped, forks and wheels off.
Everything labeled in baggies.
If you get a service manual and are good at following diagrams you can put back the whole damn thing together, buy the subframe off ebay and buy the salvage back for around $3k.
Now the molestation factor - yea, riding damaged goods is tough on the psyche unless you really don't give a shit.

some updates.
Feburary.... Insurance deemed it totalled and paid it off.. however I was a dumbass and put my gear in with the loan... so I still have some to pay off.
Found out some great news 2 days ago...
They caught the guy........ aparently he has a prelimanary hearing coming up soon that I have to be there for. Unfortunately I'm in Iraq at the moment. All my wife has to do is take a copy of my orders to the courts, which she already got from my command and they are gonna postpone the hearing till I get back.
