Default maintenance question 2006 vs 2007

My local dealer has two 2006 ST3 that he is willing to make a great deal on. The salesman told me that the "part numbers" on the two engines (2006 and 2007 models) are the same so the new extended maintenance valve adjustment recommendations apply to the 2006 model. Anyone know if this is true? Thanks.

technically, no, it does NOT apply, but I think in real terms you can use the later model maint schedule just fine.

one caveat -- if you don't use the original maint schedule and you have a warranty claim related to maintenance, you may get hassled about it. you'll need to show that the bikes are identical.

basically, Ducati realized that their original maint sched was too conservative and strict. their manufacturing has gotten better and the belts are better (yay kevlar) as well as things like oil and filtration.
