Default Two Ducs

Nice to see a Duc ST forum here. Have had bikes come and go, but this '02 ST4s remains. A sporty touring bike with a Superbike engine between the knees. This bike's focus is on the sporty side of touring. Arrow cans and a tweak of the FI is all I've had to do to the thing. Zero reliability issues over the years. More than a few reviews have declared the Ducati ST as Bologna's finest road going bike.

Oh yeah, the second Duc thing! The above is a fine stablemate and complement to its higher octane brother...

Very Nice, I've found an 06 ST3 that is in my price range, I'm moving up from an FZ6 that I loved as my first bike for about 4 years now. How do the Duc's hold up as far as reliability?

Default New ST3 owner

Hi all,
I had a short fling with a very sexy Speed Triple.
I loved it but was going to jail soon if I kept riding like that. So off to the local dealer. Lost some on the trade but rode out with a 2005 ST3 with 13k on the clock.
I put about 350 miles on her that day. I am very happy so far. The first owner put cans and a Corbin seat on already!
The sound is like music and the feel is unbelievable.
I will be going for longer rides from now on.

Ride safe

They are fundamentally reliable and durable if maintained according to schedule. The ST2 is the good old-fashioned air/oil cooled 2V engine; those last very well. The ST3 is a development of that engine with watercooling and 3V/cyl; I think they hold up well also. The ST4 is a variant of the 4V superbike engine; I have had a bit of doubt those would rack up the miles as well, but I've heard from several owners and mechanics that they do, including at least one rider who put well over 100K on his.

I have heard of a few, especially ST3's, with a couple electronic glitches, so check to make sure the electrics are sorted out, but otherwise you should be fine.

I've had no problems (other than what I've caused myself) with my '05 ST4s. They're definitely great bikes. It makes me sad that they are no longer made.
