Sprint ST Life is full of compromises, as are many motorcycles. The Sprint ST, thankfully, doesn't have to make any. It's a sports bike that covers miles, a touring bike that carves corners with a truly usable mix of poise, power and all-round practicality.

Yeah, I am looking for later style and my budget is max $6500. I saw a 05 with 650 miles sell for $5200 on ebay. I won't mind a tricked out (all common flaws addressed) 05-06 for $6500.

I say go for it. Are you gonna have it shipped or are you going pick it up yourself? You can run the VIN number through on Triumph's website and see if there are any recall issues left to fix on it and I strongly recommend you talk with the fellas at triumphrat.net (on that board I am dmac).

Coming from a FZ6 Fazer too, I have to say that the next development step is the Sprint.

The FZ6 was my favourite for about 5 years and I enjoyed it.

Coming to the Sprint driving is very relaxed due to the fact that you have power in all rpms.
The touring on the motorway is similar but you do 140lm/h with 4.500 rpms and not with 7.500 rpms.
On the smaller countryroads you can use one gear and have enough power for all situations.

To my understanding the move from the FZ6 to the Sprint is a logical step.

Try it and enjoy it.

That's too bad but you still got what you wanted and that's what most important. Enjoy the ride and be safe. Plus the FZ1 may be your 1st bike but it doesn't have to be your last, right?

Default Sprint St sold but missed

Just got a e-mail about updating my thread so here it goes:

Sold my Sprint ST in March 2008 -- traded it for a Ducati Monster S2R 1000.

Sprint ST Pros-Great bike overall. I had no mechanical problems and it rode well, had plenty of power, and the 5 gallon tank allowed lots of miles between fill-ups. My wife rode with me occasionaly but I spent 95% of the time riding solo, so two up comfort was not that important to me.

Sprint ST Cons- I live in Florida and the bike radiates ALOT of heat. It was uncomfortable at times especially when sitting idling in traffic. The bike is also fairly heavy and maneuvering it around inside the slopping greasy parking garage at work was awkward (I had to get off it and push/pull it -- was occasionally afraid I was going to drop it if I tried to maneuver while seated).
Lastly- the boards for triumph bikes (here and triumph rat) are dead. Few posts and few mods discussed-- so little feeling of community compared to other model bikes.

That's too bad. But at least you are up on two's still. The Duc is a nice choice. Don't agree with the Triumph Rat site being dead but I guess that is subjective. Dood luck with the monster I'm sure it will keep a smile on your face.

Grats!

Best bike I've ever had. I've done a few things to "sport" mine up more, including 2000 handlebars.

friend of mine just traded his '06 FZ6, which he really liked, for a new RED '08 Sprint ST and couldn't be happier.

Says the suspension and low-end torque of the Sprint are much better than the FZ6, of course.

The red Sprint is a beauty of a bike.
