Looks good, Rasc.

I'm in favor of tweaking the defensive scoring. For example:

Current:
Sack (2)
Interception (2)
Safety (2)
Blocked Kick (2)
Touchdown (6)

Because these don't happen often (some more than others), they should be rewarded differently when the do happen.

Suggested:

Sack (2)
Interception (4)
Safety (4)
Blocked Kick (4)
Touchdown (7) -- normally 6 for offense, but they also get PAT. Giving the defense 7 points for a touchdown helps with overall balance.

What say you?

To be honest I liked the scoring the way it was last year but if everyone is in agreement, I could live with a scoring change.

I liked last year's scoring as well.

Daytona is always trying to get the scoring changed...

The way I see it, scoring should be more balanced with the offense getting obviously getting more points than the defense.

The current setup is all offense. Defensive scoring should be adjusted to more accurately reflect reflect on-field performance.

@Gimp:

Last year I was in favor of a scoring overhaul. This year it's much more subtle, but still helps the overall scheme and strategy of the league. Again, the current setup shortchanges defensive plays. My proposal helps balance offensive and defensive scoring. The actual difference in points would not be dramatic, but would be enough to consider when game planning.

I actually do like your suggestions for this year.

My issue with making the defensive TDs worth 7 points would be this.

Let's say I have the Lions defense AND the Lions kicker. Let's say the Lions return an interception for a TD (which of course in reality we all know will NEVER happen because the Lions fucking suck). So now I've gotten 7 points for that defensive TD, not to mention 4 points for the interception. Then Jason Hansen nails the PAT because he's automatic. I get another point for that. So now I've gotten 12 points effectively for a defensive TD. If I end up winning a match by one point, that'd be a bit weak, in my opinion...because that defensive TD should only be worth 6 points.

The more I look at your suggestions, the more I do like them...other than the 7 points for the defensive TD for the above mentioned reasons. Also, I think that if we're going to raise those other defensive points, then we should lower the sack points to 1.

If I'm not mistaken, most of the time when a defense scores a safety, they also get credit for a sack. That means that each time (which admittedly is fairly rare) that a defense gets a safety, they would be getting 6 points for the safety....4 for the safety and 2 for the sack.

I guess I am in favor of changing the defensive scoring around, especially the turnovers and the blocked kicks.

Just let me know what you all decide.

Probably have Jake start it up as I won't have much time to manage it this year.
