NFL Games in Europe

I missed the New York Giants / Miami Dolphins tilt this afternoon. I guess I'll just catch the highlights though.

What's everyone's thoughts on this? I know that NFL management has been talking about playing a game in Beijing or Mexico City too. And that discussion has also included talk of putting on (gulp!) the Big Show in one of those non-American cities.

From a business perspective, it seems like it would materialize into a "fumble" (pun intended). There's little support for American football abroad, perhaps less so for a culture that's seemingly married to futbol (aka. soccer). The American venue that would've been hosting said event, and surrounding community is a big loser in terms of lost ticket revenue, advertising dollars, concession sales, licensed products, etc.

games abroad aren't a bad idea..... but definitly not the super bowl

I wouldn't do a Superbowl overseas...

...but the games I've watched that were in other countries all had the stadiums filled.
