Question Charlie Weis...Will he make to the end of the season?

What's everyone think?

His team is more talented than the azz whoopings it's been getting lately...

Anyone think he'll make it to the end of the season without getting fired?...I think if he loses to Navy, he's done...

Most changes happen at the end of the season. I imagine he'll make it that far.

Should he be gone now?....Probably. But making drastic changes like that is no guarantee of turning things around and in the middle of the season usually will end up hurting the program more (if that can be imagined).

i posed this question a few weeks ago, that if he has a losing season should he stay or will ND fire him like ty willingham?

i think he is safe through next season, regardless of this horrible season.

They've got too much money wrapped up in him to fire him before next season...and even then, I don't think they will...

Remember, he's a genius of a coach...

Exactly! The money alone gives him a free pass through at least next season.

You start out motorcycling with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.

Are they paying him that much? What would his buyout be?

He signed a 6 year contract worth $2 million a year. I'm not sure how much his buyout is.

Weis is there until he wants to leave. Remember he hasn't had time to get many of his recruits in the upperclass yet. If he still stinks after 2 more years then those are his players stinking and he might be done then.

Just checked, from Wiki...

"On October 29, 2005, only halfway through the first year of a six-year contract, Weis signed a contract extension with Notre Dame. The new 10-year deal, worth a reported $30 million to $40 million[1], will keep Weis at Notre Dame through 2015."

Therefore, his buyout would be worth almost $30 million bucks. They'd have to buy 8 years at, we'll average it at, 3.5 million a year.

Yah, he's there to stay...for a while.

In a word:

Everything.

They are a horrible team on both sides of the ball.

I disagree completely with the idea that they have "more talent" or "enough talent" than they need to win games. They have hardly any talent. Their skill position players are just no good. Their running backs suck, their wide outs suck, and their quaterback situation is laughable.

And think, this is Chaz's third year as coach, so these are for the most part guys that he's recruited. I guess that goes to show you that with his own players, he's just not the savior that the Irish thought he was.
