Did anyone happen to watch the NCAA Championship game tonight on ESPN??
Wow, what an AMAZING game. Absolutely fantastic hockey.
Michigan State is my hometown team, and I have to admit, although I WANTED them to win, I didn't think they'd beat Maine. Then when they beat Maine, I REALLY didn't think they'd beat Boston College.
...but then it got to the third period and the Spartans were only down 1-0. I started saying to the guys that were over to watch UFC that this was the Spartans kind of game, and they might be able to pull it out.
Then the last 5 minutes happened...what an amazing comeback by the Spartans...scored with about 5 minutes left to tie it at 1 each. Scored with 19 seconds left to take the lead 2-1. Then scored an empty netter with less than 2 seconds left to win 3-1 and secure their third National Championship.
This is a big turn around for their coach. Just two seasons ago people were calling for him to be fired. Then last year he put together a great season only to lose in the playoffs...then this year they struggled a bit during the regular season and really came into their own in the playoffs, and put together a GREAT run for a championship.
Congrats to the Spartans!!!

I watched it Gimp, i pretty much watch the whole tourney since it was down to 8 teams. Mich St played great they didnt panic when they were down for a long time. It was a great game overall, BIG hits, great goals just plain on the edge of your seat hockey. Congrats

Yah, you're right. In both games in the Frozen Four the Spartans looked like they might have been done. But they kept their composure and just kept on fighting and got back into both games. Hopefully that was the kind of Frozen Four that NCAA hockey needed to get back a bit of the popularity it seems to have lost recently.
I don't know, it seems like the NCAA hockey has been a bit down ever since the NHL cancelled their season a few years ago. Seems like the interest in hockey has declined on every level due to the NHL's labor issue that year. Hopefully a good tournament like this one will get the college game back on the up swing.

You start out motorcycling with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.
