Default Tony Romo is a Pro Bowl Quarterback...WHY???

Alright, this guy's been given a Probowl spot, and for what, basically having like two good games??

He's been on a steady downswing the last few games, and I really don't think he's even remotely close to being an "elite" quarterback.

His rating has gone from like a 108 his first two games down to a 93 now...which is still good, but losing 15 rating points in a few weeks is just bad.

Here's his stats by week, but I'm not sure when he became the starter:

Week 6: 35 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT in a win against Houston
Week 7: 227 yards, 2 TD, 3 INT in a loss to the Giants
Week 8: 270 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT in a win over Carolina
Week 9: 284 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT in a loss to Washington
Week 10: 308 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT in a win over Arizona
Week 11: 226 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT in a win over Indy
Week 12: 306 yards, 5 TD, 0 INT in a win over Tampa
Week 13: 257 yards, 0 TD, 2 INT in a win over the Giants
Week 14: 249 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT in a loss to Nawleans
Week 15: 278 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT in a win over Atlanta
Week 16: 142 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT in a loss to the Eagles

So, basically, this guy right now has 17 TDs and 12 INTs. However, if you take away his performance and his worst performance, you end up with a rather mediocre quarterback at best. For example, take his best (5 TDs/0 INTs against Tampa) and his worst (0 TD/2 INTs against the Giants) and you have a QB that now has thrown 12 TDs and 10 INTs this season.

Basically, we're giving this guy a Probowl bid based on the fact that he's played one great game, and bunch of other rather mediocre games?? Since his 5 TD game against Tampa, he's thrown only 4 TDs and 7 INTs...that's not very good at all.

By comparison, Mike Vick has thrown 19 TDs and 13 INTs, which is comparable to Romo, but Vick has also rushed for over 1,000 yards.

McNabb threw 18 TDs and only 6 INTs in the games that he played in, and who knows what he might have done if he hadn't gotten hurt.

Eli Manning has 23 TDs and 18 INTs. Another set of stats that is SIMILAR to Romo's.

Rex Grossman has thrown for 23 TDs and 17 INTs. Which is extremely similar to Romo's performance as far as TD/INT ratio goes.

Now, of all of these QBs, most of them are maligned at best. Eli is just short of being strugn up by the New York media. Mike Vick has his accuracy and ability called into question nearly every week. Grossman is being called the Bears achilles heal. McNabb is having his toughness and ability to finish a season questioned.

All of these QBs have nearly the same types of statistics as Romo...yet they are on a weekly basis having their abilities and decisions questioned...yet Romo is still being looked at like a god.

Now, don't get me wrong, Romo may still become a good QB, but as of right now, he's not even remotely close to being great...and doesn't deserve a chance to play in the Probowl...

But what can we expect when the NFL lets fans have some kind of say in the Probowl voting...

The fans vote for the pro bowl, don't be so surprised.

I know...this is just one of many reasons that fans need to have nothing to do with choosing all-star players.

Romo is second tier at best...

Who better to pick, the media who mostly still loves Mike Vick?

I only care about who wins football games, myself, and I just plain ignore the media because by and large, they suck.

By the numbers, if you'd have read my initial post, Mike Vick isn't much worse...in fact he's probably better...than Romo as a choice.

He's in the pro bowl the same reason that Shaq is in the All Star game line up, despite the fact he is yet to play a game this year...Because fans want him there...And that's what it's all about...

The Pro Bowl or All Star game or whatever have no meaning of any kind and the athletes don't really try, so it dosen't really bother me who gets to be in the line up...But it would bother me that a few dozen media type people would get to vote instead a few hundred thousand regular folks...

And that's what it's really all about...The average fan and what they want to see...

im a Cowboy fan and ive been saying all along that Romo is a back up qb in the NFL. maybe im right and Dallas decides to go in another direction at QB and maybe im wrong and romo has a hall of fame career. time will tell

Romo need to stop thinking about carrie underwood and/or jessica simpson and get his mind on the game. to many distractions

You gotta admit, those are two distractions that would be tough to stop thinking about.

You start out motorcycling with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.

I don't know man, Carson is probably a better pick this year than Brady...Carson's got quite a bit better rating...but it's not really Brady's fault...he didn't get into a groove with his wideouts until later in the season...that, and you can't make a statistic for "leadership" and "just gets it done when it matters most."

The pro bowl has completely lost it's luster.

I've heard several players say they wish they were not selected so they didn't have to come out here for a game.
