Philly Eagles Fans...a Question for You...
...Hey everyone.
This question is mainly for Eagles fans, but it's also for anyone that's a fan of the NFL.
Over the last several seasons, the Eagles have been RIGHT THERE but just not good enough to seal the deal and win a Super Bowl.
Now, they've been written off for dead in the NFC with the injury to McNabb. Now though, it's a different story. Jeff Garcia has come in and played surprisingly well in leading the team back into the playoff hunt...and possibly to an NFC East crown once again.
Now, my question for you is this: After all the years of being almost good enough, if Jeff Garcia can somehow carry this team to a Super Bowl championship, do you think the Eagles should try to trade McNabb to another team in the off season??
Just curious as to your thoughts. I'll weigh in after I see some other opinions.

If Garcia was a younger QB I'd say that McNabb is expendable. But since Garcia is no Spring chicken I say they have to hang on to him. That's unless of course they can somehow land a blue chip QB in the draft next Spring.

There was no injury that caused a starter to lose his job that took place in San Diego.
Drew Brees was on his way out anyways, and I'm actually fairly certain that he didn't have his surgery until AFTER he was signed by New Orleans.
San Diego simply had to make a choice. They didn't have the money to pay Phil Rivers the bazillions of dollars that they were paying him to sit on the bench AND pay Drew Brees what he was worth.
They knew that they weren't going to be able to get anything for Rivers because he simply hadn't made any kind of showing in game situations, so nobody was going to give them anything for him. They basically decided that they had drafter Rivers for a reason, it was time to put him to work.

Here's my take on McNabb. If you've gotten to like 5 NFC Championship games and one Super Bowl and haven't been able to win, then you bring in another decent QB and he takes you to the victory in the Super Bowl that you've been looking for...then obviously McNabb has been the problem all this time. Not any of the receivers, not any of the coaches, not any of the defense...but McNabb.
I'm begginning to think that McNabb simply isn't a durable enough QB to win the big game...and if a guy like Garcia can step in there and win, then it's time to cut bait on McNabb and get rid of him while you can still get something for him.
I mean, the guy just doesn't seem like he can finish a season. He hurt his knee this year on a play that he didn't even really get hit on. He simply somersaulted out of bounds and hurt himself for the season.
If Garcia wins a Super Bowl for them, it's time to let him go because even if he's younger, he's obviously not the kind of QB that can win a Super Bowl for you...as would be evidenced by the fact that another QB took the same team to a win that McNabb hasn't been able to.

The Eagles are McNabb as long as he is in this league. They will not trade him or release him.
I have been an Eagles fan since I was knee high to a grasshopper and I dont believe Garcia is the quarterback for Philly...he's on his way out. Even if hell did freeze over and he did win, McNabb would be back in 2007 and Garcia would have a big contract with someone else.

I disagree...you will never prove this to be true because the bad defense and bad receiving corps has already proven to be the issue when it was all going down.
I never saw the coaches as the problem.
The philly receivers sucked...they have continued to suck even after they have moved on. Freddie Mitchell, James Trash, Todd Stinkston...gimme a break.

The Eagles had crappy receivers and refused to stick to the run. That combination put McNabb in situations that get QB's injured. The guy does alot out there on the field.

The Eagles will never release or Trade McNabb for Garcia. There are no quarterbacks out there right now that the Eagles will do better with on a consistent basis.
I do see the Eagles drafting a QB for the future in the 2007 draft though.

I agree that injuries happen...but come on, the guys going on what, his second straight season ending injury and his third major injury in 4 seasons??
You can't name any big name QBs that end up actually winning alot of games that have those kind of injury problems.
I just really don't think that Philly is going to get it done with this guy at the helm. He's shown time and again that he can't win the big game...and now he's showing that he's not very durable...even when he's not getting hit he's getting hurt.
Don't get me wrong man, I've pulled for the Eagles that last few seasons...but I just am beginning to think that it's not gonna happen for McNabb...he's just not good enough or tough enough.

Since we're talking about them though...do you ever wonder what might have happened had the Bills MADE the field goal at the end of that first Super Bowl...had they have made that field goal, they may very well have won four straight Super Bowls, not just have gone to four straight Super Bowls.
