Default Favorite Players--vs--Favorite Teams

Hey everyone.

I've been posting alot in the sports forum for the last few months. I feel at home in here.

Well, anyways, I got to thinking the other day...I will always be a fan of all of my "hometown" teams, aka the Pistons, Red Wings, Tigers, and (shudder) Lions. I also will always be a San Francisco 49ers fan. I remember the first football game I ever remember watching was a 49ers game, and they crushed Denver in a Super Bowl. Been a fan ever since.

But anyways, on to what I was thinking about...in this day and age of free agents and trades and such, do you think that more people don't have loyalty towards a specific team so much as they have a loyalty to a specific player??

Example...I love the Indianapolis Colts. I love them because I really enjoy watching Peyton play. If he were to go and start playing for the Chiefs, I'd probably love watching the Chiefs play.

I also truly enjoy watching the Saints play because I've always been a Drew Brees fan, and I've enjoyed watching Reggie Bush play at USC and now down in Nawleans.

I consider myself a fan of the NFL (well, football more than the NFL because my heart truly lies in the college game) as a whole more than any one team, but I would have to say that the Colts and the Saints are my favorite teams right now, simply because I enjoy watching those players play the game.

Does this make me a fair weather fan, or do you think it's common for people to not have so much loyalty to a team anymore since there isn't much loyalty in the game at all?? I mean, I seriously enjoy watching these players so much that even if they got dealt to horrible teams like Buffalo or Houston I would then start watching those teams play.

What do you guys think??

I'll always be a fan of the Redskins

but I still have my favorite players that don't play on there anymore or have never played on there

There are players out there that I enjoy to watch and root for but I will always be a Giants fan.

You start out motorcycling with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.

Some people are like slinkies; they're good for nothing but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

I LOVE my Predators (RED WINGS SUCK!)
I love my Titans.
That's about it.

I'm also rooting for MTSU to beat Central Michigan in the Motor City bowl, but that probably won't happen. It's okay. We (MTSU) haven't been that good in the past 10 years. This year was the best we've had and probably the best we'll ever have.

Don't hate. Just because the Red Wings are the greatest hockey team in the history of the United States doesn't mean that they suck. Just because they have the most Stanley Cups in the United States doesn't mean they suck.

The Red Wings are like gods on the ice. They are the polar opposite of the Lions.

When you live in Kansas, does anything count as a sport other than goat-fucking?

By the way, who won the Kansas International Goat Fucking contest this year?
