Just like the title says, Michigan hung onto #2 in the BCS Rankings. Who thinks they'll be able to hang onto #2 and go to the National Championship game?
You start out motorcycling with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.
Some people are like slinkies; they're good for nothing but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
There's not much doubt that they actually ARE the second best team in the nation. They have every right to play Ohio State again.
I agree with you Justin. Unfortunately I don't think it'll end up that way because people will say that Michigan has lost to them once already and do not deserve another shot at them, especially in the National Championship game.

You know, I've thought about this alot. I originally thought a rematch would be cool...now I don't think I want to see one.
If Michigan wins in the desert by about 3 points, then how can you legitimately say that Michigan is the best team in the country?? Wouldn't you have to say that the National Championship would be split??
The thing right now is this though:
IF USC beats Notre Dame, then USC will gain points for beating a highly ranked team AND Michigan would actually LOSE points because the "quality win" component that UM has for the win over Notre Dame would be lost. That should be enough to propel USC over Michigan in the BCS standings.
I don't know...I think I'd rather see Ohio State destroy USC or Notre Dame in the championship game than see a rematch.

I think if USC runs the table, they'll be in the title game. If they don't I think Michigan is going to go. If anything maybe this will push the powers that be to put in a playoff system. I say the top 8 BCS teams get the nod.

Just because Boise State is undefeated doesn't mean they're the second best team in the country.
Don't get me wrong, Boise State is a good football team...out of the WAC. Any team can be good in the WAC. If you took Ohio State, Michigan, or pretty much any other Top 10 team and put them in the WAC, they'd all be undefeated and would probably trounce Boise State year in and year out.

Eh, not necessarily. And even if they do, it's not a lock that they will all win their last games.
USC still has Notre Dame and UCLA on tap.
Arkansas still has LSU and Florida.
Florida still has Florida State and Arkansas.
It's entirely possible that USC could lose both of their games. It's also entirely possible for Arkansas or Florida to lose both of their last games.
I don't want to see a rematch, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

College football is in playoff mode from week one. Every team knows this. Obviously, like this year, sometimes you can get in the big show with 1 loss. Bottom line, Michigan was one round away from making the big game, but blew it. Nobody in the 90's felt sorry for the teams in the NFC that didn't get to the Super Bowl when they were probably lots better than anything the AFC had to offer. It's simply because they had their shot and didn't get it done. It doesn't matter if the game was named the "National title" game or not. They shouldn't get in.
Likewise, I was hoping that Rutgers would win out, because I believe they would deserve a shot at tOSU if they did, but alas, that didnt' happen and the BCS is again in a shithole at the moment. You know they want a bunch of losses to show that it "still works".
