I don't have a problem with this incident but he has a crappy history so the media is going wild..

I would love to have one of my kids coached by Bobby Knight, his record on and off the court is beyond reproach.

Agreed. He's a great coach, and for the most part his kids stay out of trouble.

The way I see it, if a coach gets some negative spotlight every now and then, but none of his players ever get any negative spotlight (for crimes, bad grades, etc), then the coach is doing something right.

His kids have an unprecedented graduation rate, they don't all grad with "Management" or "Sports Medicine" degrees, and you never hear about his teams being accused of breaking the rules of recruitment, the game, etc.

He gets fucked at Indiana by the President who had it in for him for a long time (before he was Pres), then goes to a relatively unknown school and puts them on the map, posting records that eclipsed IU's.

His antics are ridiculous but his actions seem to cancel each other out.

He is undoubtedly one of the finest collegiate basketball coaches ever, if not the best. His teams play basketball, not run'n'gun alleyball.

i watched an interview with Isiah Thomas's mother years back when he was recruited by indiana. a lot of coaches made promises to them about him being a starter his first year and how great a basketball player they were going to make him

Coach Knight never promised them anything on the basketball court. he told her that when he leaves he will be a better man. never promised them he would start or even play a single minute. just promised them he would leave UI a man. there was no money under the table, no fancy cars, none of that Maurice Clarret bullshit. his family had no food, no electricity, no running water. he learned that to be the best you have to earn it and work for it. nothing comes for free with Coach Knight.

while coaches are taking kickbakcs from boosters, violating recruiting rules, hosting sex parties to land recruits Coach Knight builds men. i've only seen one player complain that he was too hard on him in the near 4 decades he's been a coach.
