if you think sherk is a can or something, you're mistaken. hes 29-2 with his only losses coming from GSP and hughes. sherk is a good match up for diego.

damn straight, i'd like to see sherk vs. diego. sherk is no joke...
Sherk can fight..BUT HE IS IN NO WAY A TOP CONTENDER IN WELTERWEIGHT! He can't beat Hughes..ever, he will never beat GSP, especially at the rate he is going, Penn would submit him in under 5 minutes, Diego would maul his ass by the end of the 2nd round. That puts 4 guys in front of him in my book, and to be honest with ya, I dont see any of those guys going anywhere any time soon, especially GSP and Diego. When Riggs fights at 170 he will beat Sherk. Now thats 5. Add on guys like Trigg, Parisyan, and Burkman for that matter. Diaz's BJJ would cripple Sherk no problem. The counts now at 9.
Of Sherks 28 wins, name one thats got some quality. Exactly!
Maybe now U two realize where I'm coming from with this, u cant just look at a record and say "oh hes good." Shit look at Quarry.

where did i say he WAS a top contender? granted the names on his record aren't stellar by any means, but he's still no slouch. as far as finding a name with some worth behind in his win list... at least do some more homework, before you go challenging people
-Karo Parisyan is 14-3, 2 of the those loses are from none other than... yep, you guessed it Sean Sherk.
as far as looking at a record, no shit you just can't look at his record. you also can't just look at who he has wins over either. look at arlovski, you know he's good and who has he fought? Vladimir Matyushenko, Tim Sylvia, Justin Eilers, Paul Buentello? oh yes all, stellar heavyweight fighters! he fights in a weak division and you still know he's a good fighter. thanks for jumpin to the conclusion that we are guys who just started watching when TUF started up, and we don't know anything

Well ya me on that one, but u get my point. Sherk aint shit compared to what hes surrounded by. He wouldn't be in the UFC if he couldn't fight...But he'll always be in that middle tier of fighters.

wait wait wait. we are all in agreement that sherk is not a top notch welterweight, but he is far from a can. penn, hughes, and gsp are definitely above him. diego? not too sure about that, diego and sherk would be a great match up, IMO. riggs would have trouble with sherk as well. while i like diesel, trigg, and diaz, none of them are so far ahead of sherk. diaz hasnt shown us much lately except that he's a punk(post fight brawl with diesel). trigg needs to work on not giving up his back and riggs needs to fight at 185. burkman has been impressive in his last two fights(sammy morgan and fickett) but i dont think he is ready for an opponent of diego/trigg/sherk's caliber. on another note, keep an eye out for the LW division making a coming back at the USA v. CANADA ppv.

As far as the lightweight division coming back, now that would be some good shit to see. Hope so..
