The first time I ever heard of the UFC was in the academy back in '95. Our defensive tactics instructor was into it and brought one of the videos for us to watch one day. That was the first time I had ever heard of Royce Gracie and my thought was, "That's a scary man." Seems like he dissappeared off the face of the earth, glad to hear he's back.

Yep, in a non-title fight. Gracie doesn't get to wear a Gi and there rounds will still be 5 min. Should be a good one.

Royce usually fights with no time limits and no ref. are they following those rules? Even if that was the case he had better have a developed some new techinics, because I don think he is going to beat Hughes. None the less I think it will be a great strength vs skill fight.
As a grappling fan I'm looking forward to it.

I'll put a fiver on Gracie. I like the fact that he's a bad mofo without looking like a steroided out gym rat, submitting far stronger, bigger fighters than himself.

Me too. He made that shit like blow up when he was wrestling. He teaches the Rangers, SF, DF some basic techniqes. And yes, I still think he is the shit.

He quit doing that years ago...
However, as far as the Gracie/Hughes fight... I'm betting Hughes in the first round. Gracie's only saving grace is going to be his ability to slip holds, but if Matt gets a good one on it's all over. I don't think Gracie has the strength to force a hold on Hughes, and I don't think Hughes is stupid enough to let himself get caught.
