Since another guy went down, I'm betting there was oil or coolant on the road.
Or, his buddy went down infront of him, he panicked locked the rear and went for a flight.
He had enough time to say oh shit before he was even at full lock. Whoops. Sounded like it sure did hurt.

He's going to make another vid to explain what exactly. But basically they were both new riders. The guy who went down first(pratically brand new bike) was goin much faster then his skill level, and the guy recording panicked trying not to hit the other guys bike in the road.
And they are ok now, just got bruised up pretty bad. First guys bike is totaled.

i had the sound off the first two times i watched it and had to turn it on for the third so i could try and hear what exactly happened.. the sound seems odd.. the exhaust sounds to be coming from a distance not like the bike he's riding.. i need to see the update so we can find out what happened! glad they're both ok.. from what i could tell from the video!

Seems like he hit the rear break, right before the fall you can see the rear end start to shift forward.

Wow! So I'm sitting here checking out videos and I came across one of my own. That was me. I did that. Its embarassing but I put it online to show two things. 1. How easy it is and how quick you can really screw up. 2. The importance of gear.
I wasn't hurt very badly at all and I attribute that to my gear. I had a bruise on my leg and a slightly sprained wrist. I actually rode the bike home and didn't realize I was hurt at all until later that night.
I wish my camera would have been pointed straight. I had trouble keeping it straight. The guy riding in front of me went down. He went into the curve too fast and he went off the road. His bike came back onto the road in front of me and it was flipping. I started to swerve around it and then it flipped over in front of where I was going to swerve and I panicked and locked up the brakes. It all happened so fast and I screwed up.
There's another video on my livevideo page where I show the damage. I'm going to eventually post a video showing my gear. It held up amazingly well except for my helmet which hit a rock and got smashed pretty bad. I actually think I had a concussion because I don't really remember a lot of the stuff that happened right after the crash and I don't remember the ride home.
There were three of us. The guy that was in front of me nearly rearended me a few times earlier in the day and actually went off the road at one point but was able to keep the bike up and stop. I thought I was going too slow and that he was just more experienced than I was. I thought he was nearly rearending me because I was slowing down before the curves and he was expecting me to zoom right through them.
We stopped for lunch and I decided these guys were above my skill level and I was going to split off and go my own way. At the beginning of the video you can see my waving him in front of me. I thought that way I wouldn't risk having him rearend me and I felt I was doing something to make myself safer. We made it less than a mile and then he went down.
I learned after the crash that he only had the bike for about a month and it was his first bike. It was a 2007 Raven FZ1 which in my opinion is way too much bike for a beginner. He admitted that he was riding faster than he felt comfortable with and that he was trying hard to keep up with the guy in front. Had I known he was a knew rider I would have kept my distance. It just goes to show that you should be extra careful riding with people you don't know.
I hope you guys enjoyed the video. I threw in the little "Dukes" thing to lighten the mood of the video because watching it straight through without it was just too dark and gloomy. I've only watched it a few times because its almost like reliving it. Honestly I think its more disturbing to watch the video than it was to actually experience it. Its embarassing that it happened the way it did but I wanted people to see it just incase it might convince a few people to wear gear and be careful when riding in groups.

Just glad you were not hurt worse than your were and able to ride the bike home. Chaulk it all up to lessons learned and keep going out to ride.
Be safe out there!!!
