Bah, who cares what's faster. Bikes are simply more involving and fun to ride.

As if the visuals weren't proof enough that the 'race' is completely fake (he never even gets a knee down), Clarkson says the R1 lapped Silverstone in 1:36 from a standing start. In last year's British 125 championship the fastest rider on the first lap turned a 1:37. Call me crazy but I'm pretty sure an R1 is more than 1 second faster than a 125; even an older one.

Ummmmmm, no.
Have you seen the lap times of 125GP bikes vs MotoGP bikes? There's only a difference of 10 seconds on average. The 125 2-strokes are QUICK, a little quicker than a stock R1 on a track (especially a track like Silverstone). Don't believe me? Look up the numbers.
I love when these cars vs bikes threads come up. I understand we are on a motorcycle forum and we are supposed to be biased towards bikes, but come on people, be real. Think about it, it's simple physics, cars have 4 big contact patches on the ground, motorcycles have 2 small ones. That alone makes cars faster than bikes on a track. Look at the Formula 1 times (fastest track cars in the world) vs MotoGP (fastest bikes), the F1 cars completely dominate them.
The fact is, a well prepped street car will with a good driver will beat a well prepped street bike with a good rider on the track. This test might not be accurate, but cars are still faster. Jeremy Clarkson hates motorcycles, so don't take him seriously, as much as I love the show, I don't listen to anything he says about bikes.
