That's some cool footage! Thanks
As for riding in the rain, it's just a matter of getting used to it. We were out yesterday and I managed to make some runs at 80+ (hard to look down at that point). As long as you ahve tires that can handle the wet (I'm on Metzler M1's) it's not that bad.
Though I didn't get quite low enough to drag a knee

Don't forget. The Rain tires that the pros use are completely different than a DOT tire or Racing Slick.
They look like this:
They remove umpteen bazillion times more water than a DOT or Sport/Road tire - so you get more wet traction. Downside being they lick taint in the dry.

Not knowing the physics behind it: A rain grooved tire is designed to siphon water through it's channels and have the rubber contact the road. That's why a slick gives you no traction because the water forms a film between the tire and the road giving you no traction. Now, the water in the groove or blocks of a rain treaded tire also stabilize the tire. Or rather, in the dry, with nothing stabilizing the pattern, the blocks will wiggle around give you a very unnerving sensation and limited contact patch as well.
Rain tires are also (usually) made out of a very very soft compound which means they fall apart easily in the heat.

I would like to be able to spend a day at that track with a ZX-10 with slicks and a dry track. I wonder how much slower my lap times would be...probably enough to be embarassing!
Those guys are the men...we are the boys!
Thanks for posting!
