Default throttle lock

Does anyone know of a decent (cheap) throttle lock/cruise control for an '00 ZX6R? the only one I have seen was the throttle miester for something like $100, it would be nice to be able to air out my throttle hand sometimes on long trips, my bars vibrate a bit, and it starts to get annoying after an hour or two.

Might try a Vista Cruise. They sell for about $20, and can be adapted to many bikes. Don't know how it would work on your ZX6R, but with a little modification it works fine on my TT.

A throttle lock won't hold a steady speed unless the highway is perfectly flat and straight, but it sure is nice to be able to rest your throttle hand every once in a while.....

Got mine here

perfectly flat and straight is about all I have here, I live in florida after all, and as far as I know, vista cruise will not work, I have an odd throttle linkage on the bar. the two throttle cables come up into a plastic piece that covers both of them for the last 2-3 inches to the bar. so most of the locks that use the cable as an anchor won't work without some modification, that I am trying to avoid if at all possible.

Sonix,

I put a Vist Cruise on my ZX9R. It took a little modding, but it works fine. I cut off the foot of the"L" that come on the Vista Cruise, drilled and tapped a #6 hole in my throttle housing betweent the cables and screwed the Vista Cruis to the throttle housing.

Have you looked at a Throttle Rocker. It clips over your grip and allows you to push with the palm of your hand. Rotate it forward when not in use, they're less than $20.

Throttle rockers are dangerous,They won't let you let off the grip all the way sometimes and that can be bad.

I know they make a end lock for 1" bars but not sure about 7/8".

I did the same thing as CareyO on a 94 ZX9R and my 99 Blackbird and it worked great. After I changed to VFR bars for the bird the cruise control would hit the tank and windscreen at full lock so I went to the throttlemiester. I positioned the vista cruise so I could flip it on and off with my thumb.

Uhhhh, this doesn't have to always be true. You can position the rocker wherever you want. If it's preventing good rotation, just move it. I've used mine for over a year and have had zero(0) problems with it.

Oh yeah, and I love it for highway riding!!

I have a throttle rocker, don't like it. I find it hard to use /w little benefit. I've had a throttle miester in the past, it was alright, got the job done, but engaging and disengaging was not as easy as I had hoped.

Right now I have a Vista Cruise, and it does the job wonderfully. I had to mod it slightly to work, but most people do. I think if you got creative, you could find a way to mod one as well, but I've never seen the throttle on an 00 Ninja, so I can't be sure. How about posting some pics?
