Default Seats....

I was wondering if anyone out there went to a corbin seat or anything similar? I am looking for something like this because I am starting to do a lot more road trips and things of that sort but was wondering if any thing was lost in the switch? Like not being performance oriented would i be falling off the seat ?? Also the looks of the corbin seat dont really hit me the right way, is there any other seats out there that provide the same amount of comfort with out looking like a cruiser seat?

Thanks for any help

Zack

I've tried a Corbin on 2 (FJ 1200 and ZX9R) of my bikes. They are better than stock, but I'm not totally happy with them. I need to stretch out my right knee a little, neither Corbin was hogher than stock seat when I recieved them. I had both Corbins sent back to add more padding. That helped, but still not enough. Corbin seats tends to sit lower than the stock seat. Try the Sargent website. They make seats for some bikes and can alter you stock seat. Their site has a lot of information on what to look for in a seat.

I liked my Corbin on my '97 750. Way better than stock!
Much more comfortable for all day riding. Holds you in place and off the tank under hard braking.
Downside... we'll, not as easy to slide off the side when getting a knee down.
They are comfortable, but not cushy. You have to break them in for a while until
it gets to know your particular a$$ on a first name basis.

btw- I'm sticking with my stocker on my 1k for now. Pretty decent for a stock seat.

I have a Sargent seat on my 996, it is great for long rides. I dont like it for short twisty rides because it's more difficult to slide off the seat. But you can't beat the comfort. Recently took about a 500 mile one day ride, and I was more comfortable than both of my friends on stock seat japanese bikes.

Im thinking i might just stick with the stocker then, seein as all the more comfortable ones keep you from hanging off. I am trying to learn the right way to do that now so I don't think i wanna get something thats going to hurt that thanks for the info though I appreciate it

Well, it doesn't keep you from hanging off, it just makes it slightly more difficult. For most of your riding it
might be a big improvement.
Besides, two bolts and your back to stock for track days or more aggressive riding...

I have a Corbin and think it is great. The shape does keep you from hanging off a bit. Not usually a big deal for me though. I tried the stock seat after the Corbin and what a difference. Defn. couldnt go back to stock.

Just bought my BF the corbin gunfighter model for his birthday. Had extra padding put in. With the gunfighter design, he's had no problems with hanging off. We don't 2-up, so the design (without the passenger area) was much better for his riding style. Check it out, it was only $200 - and we're close enough that he could go to the factory, they custom made it while he waited.

I've had a few bikes and a few saddles and found the true key to comfort is ibuprofen taken ahead of time and augmented throughout the day. Cheaper than a new seat and effective for all the other aches and pains that occur during a long ride. Another thing that can help is to never wear jeans or briefs when you ride. The pocket seams on the jeans and the thick rolled over edges on the briefs cause discomfort. I wear boxers with riding pants or a stich over sweat pants for long rides.
