Default Day 2: Saco, ME to Bridgeport, CT

I left Fort Williams Park, where the lighthouse is located, and shot back into the town of Cape Elizabeth to grab a bite to eat before meeting up with jeepcoma.

I stopped in a placed called Rudy's of the Cape and despite the cook's distates for cooking anything involving lobster (I guess it gets old when you live on the coast of Maine), I ordered the best grilled cheese with lobster sandwiches I've ever had. Coincidentally, it's the only one I've had. But it was still the best.

Around this time jeepcoma called me and I told him I'd be in his area in an hour and a half or so. Seems I forgot about Massachusetts being in the way. I stayed on I-95 and finally met up with them on the side of the highway around 3:30 PM.

Default Day 2: Saco, ME to Bridgeport, CT

We rode around some back roads in Rhode Island for about an hour, then stopped to shoot the shit at some lake. I'm not sure of the name, a little help?

PS. Suzuki is Japanese for "Better than a Yamaha." Two out of three riders agree.

Default Day 2: Saco, ME to Bridgeport, CT

After this stop we parted ways and I rode into CT until I reached Bridgeport. I stopped a couple times along the way, but I wasn't going to pay $170 for a hotel room just because it was the last one available. Eventually I stumbled across a Rodeway Inn managed by an extremely Indian woman who spoke broken English.

My room was comforting enough to pig out on delivered Italian food (shrimp with pasta and garlic bread mmm). I was outside smoking a cigarette when some short mongoloid dude asks to sit on my bike and starts telling me about his Gixxerbusa 1600. He was obviously a badass and I wanted to be his friend, but he was too cool for me.

Day 2: 11 hours, 331.5 miles
Total: 852.8 miles

Default Day 3: Bridgeport, CT to Williamsport, PA

I was up early and on the road by 8AM.

This part of the trip was pretty uneventful. I got lost in Cos Cob CT thinking I was on the right road, which put me a half hour behind my intended pace. I had to be home by 8PM for a billiard league match, so I was less concerned with photo opportunity and more concerned about closing out the trip and being able to get to work on Monday.

I did ask an old man to take a picture of me with my bike, but I won't be posting that one because I'm enjoying the fact that AC doesn't know what I look like.

The bugs were building up on the headlight.

This is the last of the photos. A panoramic shot from the shoulder of the highway somewhere in eastern New York, north of NYC. I pasted this one together from several photos, since I don't have a panoramic zoom. I have a larger version if anybody wants it, but fair warning: the large version is still somewhat small, and it's 9MB. The original source image in the Gimp was over a gig. Edit: The file is failing to upload, but I can email it direct to anybody who wants it.

This ride was a needed vacation at the time, and a chance to be alone and really enjoy myself. I'd do it again in a heartbeat, but I'd give myself at least 4 days. I was really covering some miles and not getting as many photo opportunities as I'd like.

I have my route memorized if anybody wants to know where some of these photos were taken. I can provide them on Google maps.

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed it.

Day 3: 8 hours, 353.8 miles
Trip total: 1,206.6 miles

Yep, I'll take New England roads before California any day. You guys only think you have the best riding.

The place we stopped at was Arcadia pond, right here. I still haven't gotten you your RI souvenir thingy. Oops.

btw, no pics of the jailbait?

Jailbait

I still have the pic, but I think we'll keep it a mystery.

Holy geeze I forgot that my bike used to be clean and shiny! And i dunno man, I think that jailbait pic and the inevitable poll might be the highlight of the thread...

Glad to see you made it through the rest of the ride and it seems like your Kat served you well. You need to make another trip out and find out who Brian was shacking up with

I got a little excited on some of the empty roads in New York. I'm pretty sure he bailed on one of many triple-digit bursts throughout the morning.

I'll be making another trip up that way eventually, but I want to see everything east of the Mississippi first. You and your brother should make a trip to PA for a few days, we have some great roads around here.

Make a thread for your surf & turf tour as it gets closer.. We could meet you somewhere in Northwest Jawja. You gotta ride the Cherohala Skyway through TN & Western NC but I'm sure that is already on your route..

If you like twisting the throttle you'll love the Skyway.

Don't worry I will. I already planned on it, but I want to have the bulk of my route mapped out before I go. Oddly enough, I have as far as the Georgia border planned out.

Wait till you see the first leg of the tour...
