Default Ride Central Missouri

I may have occasion to make a motorcycle trip from St. Louis to Kansas City. The direct route is I70. Mapquest shows the trip Total Est. Time: 3 hours, 50 minutes and Total Est. Distance: 249.18 miles.

A Rand McNally map shows Highway 94 from Matson to a junction with Highway 54 near Jefferson City as a "scenic route". Rand McNally travel planner suggests using Highway 94 for part of the trip makes it a 6 hour, 285 mile total trip. A few extra miles but a lot of extra time.

I see from reviewing the highway on Google Satellite Map Highway 94 is rural, perhaps sparsely populated. But is it really scenic? Is it a good motorcycle ride? Or would it be a waste of time? Please give me your opinion if you have experience in this area.

re: SR 94
Motorcycle roads says:

Jefferson City to St. Charles, 111 miles "...hugs the Missouri River and has plenty of twists and turns and hills..."

Augusta to Weldon Spring, 16 miles "Scenic with twisties and sweeping turns..."

more information here.

Most of central Missouri is rolling hills and the backroads are definitely twisty but the turns are blind and roads are in poor conditions. I haven't been on I-94, but 136 in Northern Missouri isn't a bad ride, so if it's anything like that you should enjoy it.

If you have time, there's probably some more backroads you can take from Jefferson City to KC... but it would be indirect and there will be a lot of jogging involved but it would be a nice diversion.
