Default '05 Triumph Sprint ST VS. Yamaha FJR1300

Ok guys, I'm looking for the pros and cons of each bike and how they stack up against each other as far as performance, long ride comfort, and reliability.

too soon to tell don't you think?

FJR review

Sprint launch in Cape Town

I would say the FJR is a touring bike that's sporty.. and the Sprint is a sport bike that tours... the FJR is a bit more money, no?

Time will tell.

I've ridden both. I own a Sprint.

If you want brute power in a large touring package with an emphasis on creature comforts, and a de-emphasis on sporty handling (but GT handling? you bet) get the FJR 1300.

If you want a sport bike that does it all but isn't quite as good two-up or for all-day touring, the Sprint ST is a great bike. It's quite nimble for its size and it has very deceptive amounts of power (lots of it, doesn't embarass itself against a RC-51 or Blackhawk in my experience).

I haven't ridden the new Sprint ST; however, I have sat on one. I own a FJR1300. I believe the other posts are right on track. The FJR's suspension is lacking which keeps it from being overly sporty. Yet, the FJR's shaft drive, bigger seat, etc. makes it more touring oriented. I would rank the Sprint ST more like a Honda interceptor.

If you plan to ride 500mi a day, do some camping, hit some twisties, and want to take the wife along, I'd go FJR. If you are single, don't need to carry quite as much stuff, and want more peformance, go Sprint ST.
