greetings,
how is everyone mounting their Garmins?
it looks like i only have about 1 mm or less on the left hand clip on. the Ram system i saw on VIVID1's website looks really nice but i am unsure if it will connect to my clip on's.
Looks like there are a few different Ram mounts but am unsure what might work. looks like there is also a stem mount. http://www.aerostich.com/home.php?ca...ction=0&page=1
anyone have the same dilema or any suggestions?
thank you, regards, m.a.d.

I've seen two other ways to mount them. First is to the stem, and the other is to the brake and clutch resovoirs. here's a pic of a guy's bike who uses both:

I like the Garmin Quest. It's the size of a pack of cigarettes. I use a stem stand. It has 126meg of memory and will hold several entire states and then some. The Garmin motorcycle mount kit includes a secure mounting bracket, hardwire, and earphone connection.
The Quest not only shows you where you're going, but it will verbally tell you also. Just plug earphones or a chatterbox into it and off you go!

only downside to the Quest is it's lack of water-proofness (is that a word?)
anyway, similar setup on my Sprint

GPS is the coolest, bestest farkle you can get for a bike.
I've got a Garmin 276c, mounted on a RAM mount. This unit is ideal for a motorcycle - big reflective screen (doesn't wash out in sunlight), waterproof (it's essentially a marine unit), buttons instead of a touch screen (easier to operate with a gloved hand), and a very fast CPU for fast route recalculations. I've got mine hard-wired, but it also has an internal battery so you can take it off the bike and fiddle with it while taking a break at a restaurant or such.
One of the nicest things about having a GPS onboard is the POI database - no matter where you are, it'll find you nearby gas stations, restaurants, hotels, stores, hospitals, attractions, you name it.
I also like the ability to tell it to avoid highways when plotting a route to a destination - it'll find you a more-fun back-roads route.
