Default IL IA MN WI rides 2005 FLAT 4 TOUR

I organize a little ride called the FLAT 4 TOUR FLAT4TOUR.COM, it runs twice a year. Basically it's a weekend ride that starts out in the Chicago suburbs on Saturday morning and travels though the 4 states, IL, IA, MN and WI. It's a lot of fun and this is the 5th year running. We welcome any kind of riders, any kind of bikes, although the ride is mostly sportbikes. We run 3 groups, a fast, medium pace and slow group. So everyone can ride their own pace. This ride happens on RAIN or SHINE.

I have meeting places scheduled throughout the route and can pick up/meet up with riders in Dubuque, IL, Winona, MN and at the end of the route on Saturday in WI (June ride will be Osseo, WI and September ride will be Menomonie, WI). We can also meet up with riders on Sunday, the spot is not determined yet.

I run the same route every year, pretty much the best and curviest roads in the area. (I do not post the route on my website, I wouldn't want to be surprised by a friendly surprise visit from the local popo). The route will be available in a few weeks, you will only get the route if you have intentions of meeting up and riding with us.

This ride is organized for people from chicagolandsportbikes.com and sportbikes.net but others are also welcome.

Visit my website for lodging information, more information to come in a few weeks.

If you place an order for a 2005 FLAT 4 TOUR t-shirt before May 9th you can choose from 6 colors.

Hope to see you on the ride!

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Anna

LOCATIONS

The Osseo location is a tiny little town, don't expect much for entertainment, go there for the ride and good roads only. There isn't even a good place to eat near by, just a truck stop and a take out pizza place (they don't deliver) across the street. I don't think there are any bars near by, hopefully we can get some beer somewhere and maybe chill in the parking lot with a cold one.

The Menomonie location is a college town, tons of college bars and many restaurants. The University of Wisconsin campus is 1.5 miles away. I would assume this is a party town, so if you like to party, this may be your ride.

Lodging for June 25th

Lodging for September 17

I take it I was wrong in assuming that this ride was for bikes with flat-4 motors only?

Yep, the tour goes though the 4 flat states.

Well, as of today the Osseo block of rooms is all filled, we have like 40 people going to the June ride, so far only half have reserved rooms.

I have to call and arrange to block more rooms tomorrow morning, the ride is not for another two months.

This thing just gets bigger and biggers every year

Wish it was closer, looks like a lot of fun!

40 riders, you will have your own parade!

You guys have better roads though. I wish AR was closer.

Last year I counted 36 riders (our biggest group so far) and we broke into 4 groups, maybe even 5 for a while.

I don't do 'parades' I don't even like a tight formation. I keep the groups really loose so everyone can spread out and enjoy the ride without having so many bikes right next to you.

We're going to have 2 ninja 500's on the June ride.

Great, now I know I'm not the only one that tours on a 500!

Went to a bike show in Helena AR last weekend, OK and the Casino across the river. Only about a 300 mile ride both ways. Went with a new group from work that I had never rode with before and most were "Your going to ride Ninja 500 on the trip????" They all had cruisers, HD's and GoldWings. It was fun.

We'll there are no more rooms left for the June ride. I ended up blocking 30 rooms and they are all gone I'd say for the most part there are two people staying to a room, four people staying in my room cause I'm cheap and I rather spend my money on beer rather then lodging. I estimate over 40 people attending, there are going to be 4 groups of 10+ people riding out there.

There are still plenty rooms left for the September ride.

Me and a friend took a ride to Osseo last weekend to check out the location, food and beer situation near the motel and the roads in the area and also to check out the Flat 4 Tour route. I do that every year before the first ride to make sure there isn’t any major construction on my chosen roads. All looks good.
