Question Removing my battery?

I'm a new rider last year and have an 02 Kaw. ZR-7S. I need to winterize my bike and I'm wondering if anyone knows how to remove the battery on this bike. Don't seem to be able to get at it and I don't have a shop manuel for it. Any ideas?

I'm just taking a guess here, but it's probably under your seat. See if you can figure out how to get the seat off and take a look in there.

Wait, actually I think I just found out what you might have to do.

It looks like you might have to remove the rear gas tank bracket that bolts to the frame. That lets you get to the airbox. Then you have to remove the cover from the airbox in order to get to the battery. Does that sound like a possibility?

I got that info from the first post listed here, http://www.riderforums.com/showthrea...hlight=battery

Default Battery Cont.

Ya, that helps- especially the link. It wasn't a problem with locating the battery but couldn't see how to remove it without taking the gas tank off. I'll try and identify the rear tank bracket and go from there.

thanks.

Just FWIW, I connect a battery tender to the battery, and the battery remains in the bike. If you have a tender there is no need to take the battery out of the bike.

Just remember to disconect the battery terminals before connecting the tender, no need to remove the battery at all.
