Speed Triple To become a true icon is no easy feat. But from its very first incarnation over a decade ago the Speed Triple assumed just that status, mixing a primal three-cylinder core with sporting ability and an aggressive, stripped-down stance.

yea, there's not a very large Triumph specific forum on there. i think they go to their own forum for that. SBN is a great site though, some bikes have very active bike-specific forums, others come here for the general sportbike areas

I bet if more guys test rode some of the new stuff out of England that would change.
I wish i could bring my self to go spend the money on a new street triple!Man what a machine!A good friend just got one,and i thought his speed triple was a lot of fun!
107BHP and 85LBFT at the wheel, and it weighs 315!!!!!!!!!!!!It'll stomp a mud hole in my Buell with half the displacement. And man i love the sound of a triple in high rr's.
Beleave it or not,he's a bigger guy then me[5'10" 225,5'8" 165]but we were out riden and he gave me the street and he rode the speed, and 0 to 100 i had him. After that the displacement took over and he started pull'n away till the road ran out and we had to slow down.
But man there not your daddys Triumphs!

The Speed Triple would be my choice if I didn't have my FZ1. I got to ride on (all to briefly) at a dealer here in SC last year and YOWZA! I love the 3-cyl, Brit-heritage layout, the fact that it is a true factory " In your face" ride. Bug-eye lights and all. Say, If I bought a Triple, I could justify that new Arai Phil Read helmet I've been wanting. HMMMM!!

Man,fun dosen't even start to say anything about what that Street Triple is.
Like i said my buddy owns a 06 Speed Triple too,but to be honest i think the Street is alot more fun!He test rode the Street and had to have one.He couldn't bring him self to sell the Speed,so he's got both.[lucky bastard]
In my opinoin.the power to weight is perfect! And the low end torque is unbeleavible for a inline motor, and i own some mean vtwins[1450cc built sporty]
Do yourself a favor and atleast test ride one.I think its the best new midsize bike out there today, and we are my friends in the golden age of motorcycle'n!
I'm in the market right now for a new[to me] midsize sport bike. The Street is to new to be in my buget. And it keeps me awake at night think'n about it!

Triumphs are cool.

But they do not have 85 lb-ft of torque. Not even at the crank, let alone the wheel.

For a cruiser, it's pretty sporty. But it's no sportbike. Regardless, the speed triple only has about 65(ish) lb-ft at the wheel. Not 85. There's a huge difference.

You guys are making it sound like i'm bashing on Triumphs. I'm just trying to educate.

There's not a man (or woman) alive that loves Triumphs more than I do. You guys know this.
