Speed TripleTo become a true icon is no easy feat. But from its very first incarnation over a decade ago the Speed Triple assumed just that status, mixing a primal three-cylinder core with sporting ability and an aggressive, stripped-down stance.
I'm not surprised there aren't any posts under this category as there's a Triumph specific web site (TriumphRAt.net) that has a lot of activity pertaining to the Speed Triple and other Triumph models. However, the other categories in this SBN forum allow me to read and share an additional wealth of knowledge. There's some great stuff in this site so thanks for welcoming me in.
I think that the general "sportbikers" crew just didn't accept Triumph much, therefore, doesn't have a lot of activity in this subsection of the forums. Oh, what they're missing out on. I'm also a member at TriumphRAT, which is a pretty good forum, but most folks usually just argue about which color is faster and so-forth. T595.net definitely has the best, most technical Triumph discussions out there, though, they often degenerate into bizarre conversations with lots of British slang in them.
Definitely not ashamed here, though. Triumphs will always be in consideration for my future motorcycle purchases.

The cannons blazing, with their blast the Spanish ship is sinking fast.

I used to frequent those forums, but since I moved up here it seems there aren't many riders near by. Sad, 'cause Triumph riders seem to be the craziest most fun bunch I have ever ridden with.
Now I gotta deal with squids on jap bikes telling me I won't be able to keep up, then whining 'cause I go too fast.
Except for no fairing or clip-on bars, the Speed Triple is every bit a sportbike as are the rice rockets and Italian Stallions. Also, the June issues of the magazines have reported on the new Daytone 675 and the reviews rate it higher than the other 600s. Triumph chooses not to race it, but there are clubs racing the bike very successfully. Just in case you go to a track day you may be surprised at how fast the Speed Triple is. The bottom line is all about fun, and the Speed Triple fulfills that goal completely.

Trade you my 885 for your 1050! It's a good deal, I promise!
Damn nice bike pics, by the way. The white color is "the dog's bollocks" as the Brits would say.

I was being sarcastic, I hope you got that.
It's the lines I hear from squids alot.
I ride with sportbikes, never have trouble keeping up. I love my ride, wouldn't give it up for anything except a new Triple.
God, do I feel like the squid you mentioned! I missed the sarcasm since I'm always in the defense mode. For some reason, so I've been told by many a rice rocket rider, if it isn't made in Japan or Italy, it's weird and must be a dog. They quickly become mute when I ride next to them, do a roll-on from 60 to 100 in a few seconds, and then lean it into a clover leaf off the freeway and wait for them at the next signal. Sportbikes automatically get respect. Naked bikes have to earn it. And, oh yes, it's fun earning it!
I actually love that Triumphs are the kind of bikes you have to know about to respect. Like you, I love the awe expressed by the sportbike crowd when they have trouble keeping up with me. Guess I'm just vain.
You're not vain. You're an individualist with discerning taste. When I went to the dealer and noticed 40 Harleys, 20 Kawasakis and 6 Triumphs on the showroom floor, I knew I was joining a group of people who were outside the crowd. It's a great group of people who own a really great brand of bike.
