Hey Folks,

Been a few months since I wiped out on my fizzer, but I am finally back in the saddle! I have been pretty busy with the bike. I used the insurance money to make it the bike I want instead of restoring it to what it was before. Here are a few pics:

Next I would like to get an Ohlins Rear Shock and change the headlight for something more visible / less cheap looking. I was really disappointed in the quality of the Demon headlight. < sarcasm>Imagine a headlight / fairing that ships WITH brackets for less than $100 being cheap looking?</ sarcasm> Something I read on a website during my COUNTLESS hours shopping for bits and pieces: "Cool Ain't Cheap and Cheap Ain't Cool". True when it comes to headlights, or at least that has been my experience.

I bought an 04 R1 swingarm and shock but it is SO different I'm not going to attempt to make that switch. Props to those on the board who have made it work. I'm keeping an eye on 07 FZ6 eBay auctions. Eventually I want to get my hands on the new swing arm.

I still have a few bugs to work out, like I need to tune the Power Commander and finish hooking up the Speedohealer, but I have ridden it a few times since getting the parts back from the painter and it is AMAZING the difference between the FZ6 forks and the R6 ones I have on now. The new brakes will jerk a knot in your ass, too!

Yeah it looks great! Im not a big fan of the headlight but it really doesnt look as bad as it did when it was white. Great job too.

Looks like alot of rizoma on it. Rear sets ($$$) grips, mirrors. Heck I saw ya I would flag ya down just to look at it haha.

Yeah, the headlight is a sore spot with me. I'm not a big fan either. I love the FZ6N OEM headlight but the best quote I could get from anyone was from Motoxtreme and it was over $700 shipped. That is dropping EVERYTHING but the headlight, two side pods, and the mounting bracket. Ouch! If only Rizoma made a headlight... ;)

i got that same headlight. i like the look of it, but hate the cheap feeling to it
Hey Lamby,

I guess that's what bothers me the most about it. I wish there was something similar that had good bulbs in it and was made out of better materials. I wouldn't be out at night on this bike right now for any amount of money. The bulbs that came with it are only 25W. I'd be better off duct-taping a maglight to my helmet. :)

I ran across that one in looking for a light in a previous auction. I like that you can replace the 25W bulbs it comes with for 55W halogen.

I have a 7" round Adjure Headlamp http://store.adjureinc.com/t70400.html that I am going to give a shot. I am just waiting on the bucket I picked up on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-...k-halogen-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35598QQihZ007QQitemZ170077778785QQrdZ1. to give it a try. Honestly, I don't think it will look right. I am having a hard time visualizing this part of the bike without getting my hands on it though, so it may take a bit of trial and error to find something I am happy with.

What I would really like to do is use something like a gixxer light: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-...005-HEADLIGHT_W0QQitemZ110087430320QQihZ001QQcategoryZ10066QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem. If I had the light and the stay I could fab it into something I could mount to my forks pretty easily, the hard part (for me) would be dressing the light up with a mini-fairing. I can't understand why someone hasn't already came out with a "Gixxer Streetfighter Kit" that would address the issue. Almost all the different gixxer lights look like they would look sweet on a Streetfighter to me.

Sweet!!!

ok... I gotta ask... what type of disc and caliper are you using?

and, what type of grips?

That's and awesome bike!
Thank you!

The grips, mirrors, bar ends, and brake fluid reservoir are all Rizoma. I got them from PJs Parts. Man, I LOVE that Rizoma stuff! PJ rocks, too. I highly recommend them for any Rizoma stuff you are after.

The discs (front and rear) are all Galfer Wave Rotors. I got them from Sum of All Parts (eBay and http://www.sumofallparts.com) but I have been underwhelmed with their service. I also got a 520 15/50 sprocket set from them and requested everything be shipped together. I asked for a b***** rear sprocket and one that was anodized black and requested to know the difference in price. I got two separate packages, no combined shipping, and the standard AL finish rear sprocket. They hold your positive feedback hostage until you leave them positive feedback. This way, if they screw you you'll think twice before dinging them with a negative for fear of retaliation. This is ONE OF MY PET PEEVES! If I pay IMMEDIATELY I have held up my end of the bargain... Anyway, I sent multiple emails BEFORE anything shipped and finally got a reply a couple of weeks after the stuff arrived (it took longer to ship than I would expect, too). It was in a smart-ass tone saying "Jon we have received all of your emails. You can call us if you get this (but it sounds like you aren't)" I assume they were claiming (as they do on their website) that "Spam filters" keep their emails from coming through. Whatever... Try to call them and see what you get... I left three voice mails and one day (about a month after I got my sprocket set) I came home to find a message telling me to call them back at their 800 number again. Eventually I just said F%^# it, I'll keep the 15/50 AL finish. I like the way it looks now anyway.

Wow, what a rant! Sorry about that...

The calipers are from an 03 R6 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&item=250048460599 I also used the master cylinder from that auction. All the brake lines are HEL stainless black sleeved. The brakes and suspension are so much better it is amazing. I can't get over how different the bike feels. R6 fork upgrade is so worth it if you can find a good price on a set.

Edit to add: Sharkbait's shim kit for the R6 forks is TOP NOTCH stuff, too. It made the installation pretty painless. Thanks Sharkbait!

OMFG Steelbilly! That is one AMAZING FZ6! I am so envious! I've not been a big fan of any of the naked models but this one blows away any doubts that a naked can look great. Kudos to you for putting together something I WISH Yamaha had sitting on the floor for me to buy! Nice job man!!!
