Picking helmet visor.
I want to get a new helmet visor to ride during the day, clear does nothing to reduce the glare of the sun and it makes it hard to keep my eyes on the road. Riding with glasses is painful because the helmet presses the ears into my temples.
I have an EXO700 and I am leaning toward a light smoke visor. I dont want to go too dark because then it will just reduce visibility, and I want it enough to where the sun is not blinding.
Two questions.
What visor do you guys recommend to ride during the day?
Do the reflective shields offer more tint than a light/dark smoke or its purely cosmetic?

Dark smoke FTW. The reflective shields may cut glare and the sun in general, but they alter color vision plus scratch easily. As long as you don't try to ride at night with it, dark smoke is much easier on the eyes than light smoke during the day. There is no reduction in vision during the sunny part of any day with dark smoke.
If you regularly ride in heavy overcast or fog, you might also consider a "high definition" (yellow or orange) shield. Those work great to increase contrast in fog during the day. At night they can be blinding with oncoming vehicle lights, however.

I use a dark smoke on all my helmets for day rides, the iridium shields are bad for glare and as said scratch very easily

You dont by any chance have a picture comparing light to dark smoke?
I tried searching last night and had no luck. Ill probably order the dark smoke on your recommendations.

mirror visors are garbage, the mirror washes away and scratches and reduces visibility in the same way a dirty visor would. I cleaned with water and a soft towel and it took less than a month to make the visor unusable

May as well get the dark smoke.
ANY tint at all is illegal at night in a lot of states. I only use the smoked visors when I'm on trips that are going to have a lot of east/west stuff. Otherwise its easier to just wear some $4 shades under a clear....and a HELL of a lot easier to carry around.
Some of that has to do with my usual packing method though. I have a HUGE hiking backpack that I can get my required crap to last literally weeks with that gets tied to the bike and a camelback. If it doesn't fit in those containers it isn't going.

Ok. You guys convinced me. I ordered a dark smoke visor.
I only ride during the day because im new to riding, but if I have to ride at night ill just use the clear.
Thanks to everyone for the excellent feedback.

Carry the clear one for when it gets dark.
