Anyone own Sidi race boots? Vortice or Vertigo
Vortice Boots
Link to them there. I wear a plain old pair of $40 sturdy leather work boots with no ankle protection at all. I bought them initially so that I could have some protection on my feet without spending that much money.
I want to upgrade now and have been looking at Sidi's Vertigo/Vortice boots, but I have a few concerns. First off, I really would like something with ankle and shin protection, and these boots look extremely protective overall which is my #1 concern. The only thing I'm worried about is how comfortable they are. Honestly, they gave me the impression that they'd give you ski or snowboard-boot walk. Ya know, where it looks like you're walking on your heals. Are they comfortable to wear and walk in? I ride my bike everywhere, to work, school, and on the long joy rides as well as track days. I want boots that I can wear to work, school, and on the long joy rides. I think as long as these don't make me walk like a goofy ******* then I'm interested.

I got the Vertigo Corsas, they are great boots. Ive worn them for about 4 seasons now. As far as being comfortable for everyday riding and walking around, I dunno about that. They dont have much in terms of padding in the heels.
Just in case you wanted to try other options, I got Astars boots for a great price right now. The S-MX 5 boots are pretty cool for casual and track riding. Hit me up.

Hmm, well now I'm not sure. Have you ever tried the Strada's?
Sidi Strada Rain Motorcycle Boots :: New Enough, LTD
Those ones there. Really what I'm looking for is a full length boot that's comfortable enough to wear for a couple hours.

Boots that offer maximum protection are not going to be comfortable walking around much. The A* SMX4 or SMX5 seem to be a decent compromise. No clue about Sidi models.

I have the Strada Rains and they are comfortable on and off the bike. They don't breathe so you will get sweaty feet but I don't notice it until I take them off usually.

I have a pair of Vertigo Airs. Excellent for hot weather, aweful to walk around in. (imo)
I also wear TCX x 5 boots (formerly Oxtar Matrix) much better boot off the bike, look some what casual, yet
they lack the ventilation/protection of the above pair.

I really wish there were a gear shop around here where I could try the boots on and see how they feel. Maybe there is and I just haven't ever found it. Time to google.

I LOVE the Sidi's. Just not the pricetag. They fit my feet perfect in a Euro-44, but just walking in the store I would not walk very far in them. I currently wear a pair of older SMX4's that I have walked around for a couple of hours in at a time. Not great, but manageble.

I've got the Vertigo Corsa Air's and they are OK to walk around in. They aren't too stiff front to back. They restrict more side to side. However, you really don't want to do too much walking in them since wearing out the soles isn't a hard feat to accomplish.

I have the sidi vertigo corsa they run narrow, IM still trying to get used to that and by no means something I want to walk around in for very long, although they are not bad for cruising around a store in for an hour or so. I did have a pair of SMX3 boots I sold to help pay for the corsa's and lemme just say other than squeeking, those things were SUPER comfy and offered some real ankle protection in the form of good padding to prevent crush. Far better than my corsa's.
You are really not gaining anything with the the strada other than the name of "motorcycle boot" it offers no real protection other than some padding on the ankle (minimal but it would help) and really not much more than that, I have the A* stage boot which is similar, and I do like it, super comfy and will help somewhat from your ankle twisting ect.

Sidis are ok but I got tired of replacing boots yearly from the soles wearing out from the foot pegs so I got some Pumas now. The pumas are more of a pain to get on and off but more comfy once on.

just got some Sidi Vertigo Airs on clearance (gogo recession) and so far I love em.
If you are gonna walk, carry shoes. They are fine for walking in for a burger or a coffee or whatever, but I wouldn't go on a hike.

I'm not trying to thread-jack (and I don't know what size you are), but I've got an almost new pair of Gaerne GRS boots for sale in the classified section. They really are great boots, just the wrong size for me. I bought the right size and these have to go. FS: Gaerne GRS Race Boots (GREAT DEAL)
