Default /Cool/ Helmets

I'm not satisfied with the helmet i have right now. It doesn't really have the space for my mic by my mouth and also it's not very well ventilated. The air is there but has nowhere to go. So i've talked to some dealerships and they keep telling me that i'm looking for the X-eleven shoei. I love the helmet it's just too pricy at this time in my checkbook.

So...i was wondering what other helmets are out there around 300 bucks that have maximum air flow like the x-eleven. I know you guys have used them from experience and you're not trying to sell me the most expensive helmet and not listening when i say it's too much money right now, ya know?

Air vents don't work for shit anyways, even on $500+ models. Go here for good helmet reviews.

go to;

Competition Accessories: Automotive, Motorcycles, Atv, Outdoor, Sports, Recreation, Events, Rally, Bike Week

I believe they still have some great deals on the Shoei's, last years models.

Check out the Gmax GM68 helemts. I have bought one recently and really like it. It was also rated 2007 helmet of the year. Price wise, it goes for around $120. Very good deal for the money.

Your link to webbikeworld states otherwise giving the X-11 extremely high marks in many areas especially air flow and air dynamics. I really like mine especially considering it was $400 (solid color) including an extra dark smoke shield.

Their reviews are too subjective when it comes to air ventilation. I've never noticed any significant difference in helmet ventilation among differing models. All the air I've felt entering a helmet has been through the visor (when opened) or from underneath. I've also seen many contradiction reviews of the same helmets from other sources. Their reviews are very good and thorough, but they need to find a better way to measure airflow differences.

I purchased a Shoei TZR based partially on the webbikeworld review, and they were spot on the the airflow. Like you, I've had several helmets and almost never felt any noticeable airflow, but the TZR I can definately feel the air moving.

All I can say is that the X-11 has earned the reputation as best ventilated helmet available. When the weather starts to cool, I start closing vents so my head doesn't get too cold. Eventually the chin curtain needs to go on as well to close up under the chin bar. Even in the heat you can definitely feel the air flowing all over the top of your head. YMMV

He is prob just pissed he could not afford a X-11. Mine moves air, I can feel the difference when I open and close the vents. In hot weather my head cools off, in cold weather it warms up.

My buddys scorpion helmet has pretty much the same vents as my Shoei. He likes it and it is in the price range you are looking in.

Also might want to consider the HJC AC12 carbon fiber helmet. I don't notice more airflow but I do think the thinner walls of the carbon don't insulate heat as much as other heavier and thicker walled helmets. It's my coolest helmet. In fact, it's a bit too cold in cooler weather even w/ the vents closed.

Thanks guys, I ended up going with the Shoei RF1000 helmet. I'll test it out when it arrives and make a review for it to help others as well.
