anyone with a spec-1r have their side cover/plates fly off?? i had my left side fly off a week ago(when i got it) and after putting my bike in the garage tonight i noticed my right one is now gone too they were snapped in correctly. i got the helmet used and i doubt suomy will have replacements since its like an 03 model and if they DO, theyre like 50 friggin bucks a pop....kinda pissed. it definitly doesnt look as cool without the plates but 100 bucks is rediculous for something that shouldnt have happened in the first place
before sideplateflyage:
other than this issue i LOVE LOVE LOVE the helmet though.
I had the same thing happen with my Gunwind. First time I lost both sides because I took a bird off of the visor at 120 mph, obviously not the helmet's fault. Second time one side just decided to fall out. After shelling out the loot the first time around I decided to go the cheap route the second time and just order the black pieces. Go figure, I've never had those pieces fall out.

Some people are like slinkies; they're good for nothing but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
I've had one side cover pop off...but that was after a road cone was flipped up and hit me dead on at a track day. Otherwise they always seemed pretty secure to me.

might just get some plain black ones at 30 bucks a pop like jake did
First off, I just found about Suomy closing up shop here in the USA. Talk about bad timing - I had just bought a new shield for my Spec-1R and was going to review the maintenance video as I hadn't changed the shield in a while - well bye bye video and the rest of the Suomy USA site for that matter. The global site has nothing on it and my helmet never came with the DVD soooo....
Anyway, I figured it out.
Now as for the side covers, no worries you can buy them from lots of places.
Assuming they still have customer service here in the US, I can tell you the people I dealt with where great. They didn't have the ones I needed in stock so they sent me some black ones and just told me to send them back when I finally received mine. I was so happy about this that I ended up just buying the black ones from them when I received mine.
