Default SixSixOne Back Protector for street riding

SixSixOne Back Guard :: MSRP: $69.99 :: Our Price: $59.99! In stock NOW!

I ordered a Teknic 7 Link Spine Guard and it was unavailable. The company offered to give me this one instead. Would this be good for street riding under my MotoGP Apex Leather Jacket? I think this is made for MX but is this any different than the street back protectors?

I tried and looked over the 661 and the Teknic 7 link and tried them on. I wasn't really happy with either. Of the two I liked the 661 better but the strap barely fit around my gut. If you're not 220 lbs and a 38 in waist like me it probably wouldn't be an issue. It has a 2nd layer of pad to protect you from the plate rivets. I then tried on the Teknic Speedstar. I ended up spending a little extra money and getting it. It had the best hyper-extension protection of the three and was very adjustable.

STG is having an offer on trying out the new Knox gear. Might hit that thread and see if you can get in on that deal. I might pick up an Aegis 7 plate. If I do, I'll probably be selling the Speedstar.

No CE rating???
Hmm...To be honest I would rather have it CE approved/tested than me testing it out for the first time in a crash.

Go with the JR Speedmaster or T-Pro Forcefield (the same thing). Trust me, you won't regret it and they're CE level 2 approved. I tried the Knox Contour first and it felt like a wood plank on my back. The Speedmaster is REALLY comfortable (you forget it's there) and as your body heats it up, it conforms to your back.

I specificly avoided the Speedmaster/Forcefield because of their flexability. I wanted something rigid to absorb the torque that would be transmitted to my spine more than I was worried about impact protection. Even though it's technicly less comfortable I don't notice it except for when I'm riding and I forget to put it on, like I did this morning. Then I miss the support and the reminder to keep my posture correct, as well as feeling that much more vulnerable.

If you have access, I say try them all. The Teknic Speedstar is also CE 2 rated.
