The mating part... why is that so crucial? Becuase I have three different jackets and one pair of pants. it'dbe hart to mate them, unless i put on new zippers on all of them.

Simple cheap basic fit to the pants, get some leather strips, stich one end to your jacket, put some snaps on the other end so you can snap em to your pants, four should do the trick, its what I am going to do. But your on the right track its just one extra step
