Question Opinions of Icon Merc Long Gloves?

Anyone got an opinion that they want share about the Icon Merc long gloves? I've decided that I need something between my Olympia Cold Throttle winter gloves and my First Gear Meshtex summer mesh gloves. After trying on most of the inventories of the bike shops around the area, the Icon Merc long gloves seemed to fit/feel the best. I'm usually stuck between a medium and large when it comes to gloves. I have hands and fingers that are long enough to usually need large gloves, but are thin enough that mediums usually fit better if they happen to be long enough. The medium Icon gloves felt like they were made for me, but I'm a bit leery after getting those Olympia gloves in large because they fit at the shop and then having them stretch (probably just liner compressing) and be too lose to be safe. Anyone had Icon gloves in that same basic style for a while and had them keep their size well? I'll be dropping about $100 total on the things with tax, so I don't want to get something I won't like in a month.

Thanks for any advice of personal experience or links you might be able to provide!

I've not seen the Merc gloves in person, but from the specs I've read alone I think they tend to be a little expensive for what you get. I've seen them in the $80.00 range, and for that you get carbon fiber knuckle protection and a reinforced goatskin palm. In that same price range ($89.00) you can get Joe Rocket GPX 2.0 Gloves which have similar features plus a Pittards® Ceramic infused leather Armor Tan palm that I'd think will be superior to the Merc's goatskin palm. You could also get Alpinestars SP-2 Gloves which has similar features and a sturdier palm. Personally, I'd go with the Joe Rockets over the Icon's based on features alone at that price point.

I think the ICON merc long glove is one of the BEST full guantlet gloves at it's price point. I feel it is well built, offering excellent feel. If I were looking for a reasonably priced long glove this would certainly be on my llist. I also like the Alpinestars SP1 and Sp2 long gloves.

Thanks for the opinions. I've heard a few too many negative reviews on the SP-2 gloves and A* gloves don't seem to fit me well anyway. I'll check out the GPX 2.0 gloves if I can find some locally.
