Gear Recommendation – Gauntlet Gloves
So I’m a pretty talk guy standing around 6’3. However, even compared to my height, I’ve got very long arms. Therefore, when sizing the rider’s jacket if I’m sized correctly in the chest, I’m short in the arms and if sized right in the arms, I’m swimming in the chest. I don’t need much in length, but would like to know suggestions for good gauntlet gloves to make up the difference. I need them to be good armored gloves, so that they offer good protection in crashes on track days.
Thanks,
Jason

Think you can think you can't...either way you're right!
But any kangaroo glove is better than a cowhide one. It's much thinner, more flexible, better abrasion resistance, and does not get nasty from sweat like cowhide.
It's one thing for a jacket/suit... it's just a little lighter. But something with as many joints as a glove, you REALLY notice the difference. I'll never buy cowhide gloves again.

They ARE worth the money. Trust me.

WOW, that's some coin for those gloves. However, what you're saying makes a lot of sense. I'll keep that in mind.

Yeah, i got a deal on them.
But you CAN get 'roo gloves for cheaper.
The Teknic Speedstar gloves from 05-06 were 'roo. They made them cow for 07, and you can get leftover 05 models on ebay for SUPER cheap once in a while.
Not that there is anything WRONG with cowhide. It'll protect you just as well. It just has to be thicker to do it as well. Which i find annoying in a glove. The Phantoms feel so thin that i'm almost afraid they'll wear through too soon... but i have seen people wreck at 150mph in them and wear them again the next day.
Good enough for me.
(plus, they are INCREDIBLY comfortable. Insane.)

What size do you wear? I was looking at the sizing and it's not the normal S, M, L, XL. I wear XLs for the most part. What would you guess would be my size for these, 9, 10? Last question, what's the cuff length like, going back to the first posted question?
Thanks,
Jason

On the Held website (and maybe on newenough, i forget), there is a really accurate way to size your hands to their gloves.
I wear a Large in Joe rocket, and a 9 in Held, though.
I'm not saying you SHOULD get these, i'm just saying that i have a lot of success with them.
The Cuff length is 3.5" on the inside of the wrist, and 5" on the outside. It's kind of tapered.
It's about the same as most gauntlet-style gloves, though.
And honestly, if you're not a gear fanatic like I am, a nice pair on closeout is most likely the better deal. You can go through three pairs of those before you meet the cost of these.

I picked up a pair of Alpinestars GP Plus gloves recently from kneedraggers.com and am very impressed. Great protection, full gauntlet, very comfortable, $145.
