There is only about $15 dollars difference in price so that isn't an issue. Which one is the better jacket? Why?
I'm not buying leather from the start. After I get back into riding and if I decide to start riding spirited I will then buy leather. Until then I am going to be cruising around town.

I got my Joe Rocket Sonic jacket for about $290, and it's awesome. You can get it in perforated leather as well. Check ebay and newenough, since the 2007 models are coming out, you can probally get a good deal on a 2006 model jacket that offers better protection. But I'd actually choose the joe rocket if I had to chose between those two. I had some cortech gloves and the quality was crap, dunno much about the jackets though.

Assuming Cortech and Tour Master are the same quality, I have a pair of Tour Master Robomax leather gloves and they are excellent quality, fit and finish.
I will say that I tried on an Icon Motorhead jacket at Cycle Gear today and fell in love with it...felt very comfortable and seems like it would really protect in a spill......I'm thinking of getting my first leather

most of my friends don't like icon b/c they say it's more for stunting but it's the same specs (1.2-1.4 mm cowhide leather) as alpinestars, joe rocket, etc. my wife has an alpinestars jacket and she likes it a lot. when i'm in need for a new jacket, i'll go w/ icon or alpinestars i think.

good luck man.
But does it have good armor in the shoulders, elbows & back though?
I just picked up a Fieldsheer Attack jacket from Sandhills Power Sports and it's awesome. Good quality leather, decent padding and the best part is that it was only $226, shipped! There are 2 Attack jackets perfed and non-perfed. (see photos, back view is non-perfed)

The Cortech looks to be thebetter of the two, however, I second and third what everyone has been saying about leather being an even better option.
The reason is textile makes you tumble and leather makes you slide, hence less injuries in sliding compared to tumbling (from both research and experience, yay).
