Help finding leathers for stubby legs.
I'm looking to get a set of leather pants in the next few weeks but I need some help finding a pair that fit well with short, stalky legs.
I'm not quite 5'10" and weight 210 lbs. I'm a bit chubby but most of my weight results from having a muscular build. I typically wear a 34" waist and 32" inseam (though a 31" would be better if I could find it). The biggest problem I have with ANY pants is that my legs are short but burly.
I went to Cycle Gear today and tried on a few, here's what I found:
1) Frank Thomas "Strike" pants.
- - - - 34 - Can't get them over my thighs enough to warrant consideration.
- - - - 36 - Fit my things and waist but the knee pads start about half way down my knee.
2) Dainese (model unknown)
- - - - 36 - Thigh and waist fit okay but the knee pads start below my knee caps (even crouched in riding position).
3) Alpinestars (model unknown)
- - - - 36 - Thighs were uncomfortable, waist was tight, knee pads started 3/4 of the way down my knee (even crouched).
I'm considering Joe Rocket because their stuff (generally) seems to fit stalkier people but I'm very much open to suggestions.
I need a full circumference zipper and knee pucks (want to hit the track this season).
So, help me out here, guys!!!

Not sure if this helps but maybe you could give Fieldsheer pants a try. They make pants with different size inseams. They have two types of leather pants, the Tracker and the Sport Air. Both of which you can get with a large size waist (34-36 inches) and a short inseam (31 inches). Just don't know if they'll fit on the thighs for you. Hope this helps...good luck! Oh yeah, I think both of them have a full circumference zipper as well.

Thanks for the tip, Mercury.
I checked out the Fieldsheer website and did find the sizing chart mentioning short, regular, and tall sizes in their pants. I've emailed kneedraggers to see if they have the short available as their website doesn't present an option for length sizing when ordering.

Hey bud, I know what you're feeling. I'm just about a inch shorter than you. I just recently bought a pair of Joe Rocket Speedmaster paints size 36. Yes they are long and yes they run small. I'm normally a 34x31. I've been searching forever for leather pants but no one makes them for us guys with thick legs. I'm a weight lifter so thats why I have thick legs. Well the fitment of the Speedmasters are very long. Made for tall skinny guys. When I'm wearing them, the knee pad and puck are actually like 2 inches below my knees when I'm standing. So, it would really help if I can take about 1-2" of material off between the knees and crotch of the pants. When I'm on a bike with my knees bent, the knee pads are closer to my normal knee position. The pants also are very tight on my thighs. There is no way I can wear pants under them. I can only wear whitie tighties or boxer briefs (anything that is tight), I can't wear boxers because they're to loose. I got a quote at Barnecle Bills for about 100.00 for alterations. Overall when I'm on the bike with my legs on the pegs they're not too bad. I may have to pull them up a litle bit. I hope this helps.

You might look at RS Taichi here;

They have some extra wide sizings - I think for the Sumos!

Got the emails back from KneeDraggers and RideGear. It looks like the Fieldsheer pants I was looking at aren't available in anything but regular length.
I'm checking TourMaster Cortech now. They apparently have 2" adjustment in the knee sliders to help accomdate height issues.
I'm hoping the zipper is compatible with other brand jackets to make use of the one I bought back in December.
Anyone have experience with TourMaster pants? I'm looking at the Apex Air but they're probably too new to get feedback on these specifically.
