Default Daily rider gear

After a series of unfortunate events I am now using my bike as my primary means of transportation for the summer. I need to get a jacket and some gloves that would be good for everyday riding. Preferably waterproof to keep me dry when it rains, any suggestions? What about a good tank bag?

I'm a huge fan of leather, especially since you'll be seeing a lot of road time with your bike as your only source of transportation (I know the feeling!). You might also want to get separate rain gear for just wet weather riding; which is definately cheaper than leather, not as much abrasion protection unless its an over suit.

Keep me posted on a tank bag. I need to get one because I keep losing crap from my tail net.

The only problem with seperate gear for rain is I would have to cary it with me all the time. I frequently ride to work and then go out to my girlfriends and stay the night there or stay the night at the place I skydive on the weekends. I just need a jacket that is good for the rain and in the heat. I don't think leather fits the bill for that unfortunately.

As for the bag, I was also looking at the saddlebags for sportbikes do they give much more room than the tankbag? Basicly I need room in the bag for clothes for a few days.

How about mesh gear for the heat with a rain over suit. The rain suit would roll up fairly small and could be stuffed somewhere. Some of the expandable tank bags will hold a lot of stuff.

Here's some other interesting stuff. A bit pricey but it works well and it sounds like you might get a lot of use out of it.

Any suggestions on a rainsuit? I think I am going to go with the Icon urban tankbag. What about a good mesh jacket and gloves?

I ordered the frogtoggs rain gear and it works great. The best part is if you fold enough and smash it enough it will fit under your seat. I leave mines there all the time just for emergency. http://www.qwks.com/froggtoggs.html By the way, they work great.
